Samuel L. Jackson designed the look of Stephen in Django Unchained (2012). He demanded the character have shaky hands and jaundiced eyes to physically manifest the internal rot of a man who turned against his own people for power.

Samuel L. Jackson says Quentin Tarantino originally didn’t want to tell him he wasn’t playing Django. “He sent me the script without telling me I wasn’t going to be Django.” “He just said, ‘Read it. The character is Stephen.’” “I called him back and said, ‘So you want me to play the most despicable Black man in the history of cinema?’” “He said, ‘Well… yeah.’” “I told him, ‘Okay, let’s do it.’” “He actually toned Stephen down because he said, ‘I don’t want anybody to kill you.’” “People call Quentin racist because of his scripts.” “But every character he’s written for me has been intelligent, respected, and in control.” “It would be impossible for a racist to consistently write characters like that for me.”

So we get to listen to the lamentations of the women--specifically the three SCRONES (SCOTUS crones), Kagan, Sotomayor, and the leader of the pack, Justice Ketanji "I'm not a biologist, how would I know what a woman is" Jackson. As usual, though Jackson has the LEAST SUBSTANCE TO SAY, she of course SAYS THE MOST WORDS. It remains astonishing that Justice Jackson routinely speaks ONE HUNDRED TIMES as many words in oral argument as does Clarence Thomas, almost certainly the smartest SCOTUS justice on the bench, and one of the smartest in our nation's history. Django is the better film by a noticeable margin in my book, even though I’m a huge advocate for The Hateful Eight (the writing is superb.) But Leo, Waltz, Foxx & of course, Samuel L. Jackson, are truly out of this universe here. This is some of the best acting in any QT film.

Happy Birthday, Jack Nicholson As Good as It Gets (1997) Jack is the most nominated male actor in Academy Award history with a total of 12 Oscar nods. Romance novelist with OCD, Melvin Udall was his third win. He described him as, 'the most lovable character I've ever played.'

He worked with Alfred Hitchcock twice, on FAMILY PLOT and MARNIE. He worked with Quentin Tarantino three times--on THE HATEFUL EIGHT, ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, and DJANGO UNCHAINED. But I think Bruce Dern's strongest performance is one that's made lesser men blanche in the past--Wishing MALIN X a happy birthday.

Clarence Thomas is a fearless, happy warrior. He is a patriot of the highest caliber, an intellectual giant, and one of America’s fiercest defenders of the Constitution. Wishing him all the best on his 77th birthday.

Justice Scalia never received the level of hate that Justice Thomas gets because the left sees him as a traitor for being a black conservative. In response, Justice Thomas told me: “The fact that they have all this vitriol is a white flag that they have no argument.” More in my new book on Clarence Thomas at

Justice Clarence Thomas on the moment Thomas Sowell changed everything: A friend called him about a Wall Street Journal review and said, “There’s another black guy like you. His name is Thomas Sowell.” Thomas got the book (Race and Economics), read it like a man dying of thirst in the desert, and said: “Finally, somebody was telling the truth.” That book started a friendship that has lasted over 40 years.
