Muslims are fleeing Uttam Nagar in Delhi after a series of hate speeches and threats from Hindutva groups. I spoke to a local resident, Jameel Ahmad, who told me that many Muslim families are leaving the area after individuals like Lalit Sharma allegedly made threats, with speeches circulating online declaring that Muslims would be killed or driven out. According to locals, some speeches have even threatened that Muslims will not be allowed to celebrate Eid and that Holi will be forcibly played on them on the day of Eid. APCR warned that what began as a personal dispute between two families in the killing of 26-year-old Tarun Kumar is being deliberately given a communal colour by certain groups to provoke wider tensions ahead of Eid, with fourteen adults and two juveniles arrested so far in the case. Goregaon, Maharashtra: Tensions rise amid sacrifice dispute after remarks about pig worship; situation brought under control following police intervention. Goregaon East’s Gokuldham, Azad Nagar D-3 Society witnessed rising tensions ahead of Bakrid over animal sacrifice. The Muslim side presented a BMC permission copy to the media, stating that approval was granted after inspection. However, the BMC later directed them to use a nearby slaughterhouse. According to the Muslim side, all slots there are already full, and no new bookings are possible. The BMC has said it will provide an alternative arrangement within 2 hours. Meanwhile, a person claiming to be the Konkan region president of the Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad, who was not a local resident, told the media he would perform pig worship, which briefly escalated tensions and led to arguments. Police intervened and removed the individual from the spot, after which the situation calmed down. Security has been increased in the area as a precaution.
