I've seen different approaches to remove thyroids, from niples, behind ears, etc My only comment about this is that the video is misleading who sees it. It's far more complicated to perform a thyroidectomy

All surgical animations simplify things for broader audiences. This one is more for patient education of basic info.

This is TOETVA What is TOETVA? It stands for - Transoral Endoscopic Thyroidectomy Vestibular Approach It is an emerging, minimally-invasive technique for thyroidectomy. TOETVA is a novel, scarless technique to remove the thyroid gland by inserting surgical instruments through small incisions in the oral vestibule between the lower lip and gingiva. It uses endoscopic visualization to access and resect the thyroid transorally. Advantages of TOETVA: - Leaves no visible scar on the neck - Potential less postoperative pain - Quicker recovery compared to conventional thyroidectomy Limitations: - Very technically demanding procedure requiring specialized training and equipment - Limited working space through the oral approach - Not suitable for large goiters, thyroid cancer, or lymph node dissection - Risks include mental nerve injury and subcutaneous emphysema TOETVA is still relatively uncommon. Few surgeons have expertise in this approach. It shows promise for select patients but more research on outcomes is needed before wide adoption. Conventional open thyroidectomy remains the standard approach. Try -

As a manual therapist who routinely deals with the after effects of scarring, I would be concerned this would actually lead to more fascial restrictions and negative sequelae along the anterior neck / hyoid than a traditional thyroidectomy scar that is local (vs tunneling) 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️
