Both options are good and valid! However, maintaining full width from the wingbacks at all times might not be necessary, optimal width could have been more effective in this situation.

🚨 Use DIRECTIONAL RUNS to score EASY GOALS in FC26 To perform: 1. Press L1 to trigger the run 2. Flick the RS in the direction you want Levi de Weerd shows a perfect example here of how to attack space with the directional run here. He first sends his winger on a run in behind then player locks to drop the ST deep. His opponent reacts well by tracking the run but he also holds R1 to 2nd man press the ball, leaving space in behind the CB, where Levi will flick the RS for the winger to take that space inside. First time through ball with Vitinha and it’s an easy 1v1 with the GK. This also work really well when you trigger a central player like a ST or CAM to make a diagonal run into space out wide.
