Dr. Fei-Fei Li just called out the biggest blind spot in the entire AI industry. We have been building half of human intelligence. And calling it the finish line. Li: “If you look at human intelligence, it pretty much boils down to two buckets.” The first bucket is language. Symbolic reasoning. Communication. The ability to think in words and abstractions. That’s what every major AI lab has spent the last decade building. The second bucket is the one the industry has almost entirely ignored. Li: “We call that in AI spatial intelligence.” How humans and animals perceive, navigate, and interact with the three-dimensional physical world. How we reach for objects. How we move through space. How we build and manipulate physical reality. From painting masterpieces to constructing the pyramids, non-verbal spatial intelligence is what actually shapes the world. Language describes reality. Spatial intelligence acts on it. And the gap between those two things is the gap between a chatbot and a robot. Li: “When this technology is ready, the robotic revolution is gonna start. We’re already seeing that trend.” Every robot is a moving agent. Every moving agent requires spatial intelligence to function in the real world. The humanoid robots being deployed in factories right now are hitting the ceiling of what language models alone can power. Spatial intelligence is the unlock. But Li didn’t stop at robotics. Li: “From a geopolitics point of view, this is part of the technology that goes straight into weapons.” Autonomous drone swarms. Battlefield navigation. Physical target acquisition without human oversight. Every military application of AI that operates in the real world runs on spatial intelligence. The nation that masters the transition from static text to dynamic three-dimensional perception doesn’t just win the software race. It commands the physical battlefield. The AI arms race just broke out of the data center. It’s operating in three dimensions now.

Elon Musk just said out loud what the entire robotics industry spent thirty years refusing to see. Musk: “Humanity has designed the world to interact with a bipedal humanoid with two arms and ten fingers.” Every staircase. Every doorknob. Every factory floor. Every hospital corridor. Civilization is not an open environment. It is a monument built around one specific body. The industry spent decades engineering quadrupeds, wheeled machines, exotic locomotion systems. Then spent more years asking how to retrofit the world around them. Tesla never asked that question. Musk: “If you want to have a robot fit in and be able to do things that humans can do, it must be of roughly the same size and shape and capability.” This is not a design philosophy. It is a pass key to every structure humanity has ever built. Optimus does not navigate civilization. It inherits it. Musk: “Work that is repetitive, boring, dangerous. Basically, work that people don’t want to do unless they’re paid to do it.” Remove every task performed out of obligation rather than choice. What remains is pure cognitive output. Not automation. The liberation of human attention at species scale. The interviewer pushed back directly: “I thought four legs are better.” Musk laughed. Musk: “Four legs good, two legs bad.” Someone in the room said exactly what the entire industry believed. He dismissed it with an Orwell joke and moved on. Whoever fields this first does not gain a labor advantage. They inherit the physical layer of civilization itself. Every structure ever built. Every tool ever forged. Every corridor ever designed. Already engineered for this exact body. The world was never neutral ground. It was always waiting for the right body to walk through it. Someone was always going to see it. Most just spent thirty years looking away.

Our general understanding of the characteristics of the physical world are largely restricted by the limited range of our senses. The world appears to be comprised of tangible objects positioned within empty space, separate and distinct. Neither of these characterizations are true. Our unaided senses generate a false interpretation of the true state of reality. Space is note empty, it is substantive with a quantifiable and measurable energy density. Space, in terms of quantum vacuum fluctuations, can be considered as a veritable sea of oscillating energy, like a fluid, quantized at the Planck scale (a billion trillion trillion times smaller than a centimeter) as Planck spherical units, and these tiny oscillators make up the fluid medium of space and comprise the "material" stuff as well. Imagine being able to directly perceive this level of reality. Our photodetector proteins in our eyes are sensitive to electromagnetic radiation in the frequency range of 400 to 800 terahertz (trillions of oscillations per second), and we call this "visible light". If, however, we could see light at the Planck scale, were photons oscillate at the Planck frequency— a mass-energy value that makes the electromagnetic component at order of unity with spacetime curvature— then we would theoretically see directly the substantive fluid medium of space and our sight would relay a world that is integrally interconnected and all one substance; objects would not appear as separate and distinct or even fundamentally different than the substance comprising the bulk space. "Material" objects would appear just as patterned vortices of the fluid that is the very substance of space. So, tangible objects are made of the same substance as space, and only seem physical to our limited senses because of electromagnetic repulsive forces. The electromagnetic repulsive forces are generated by how these PSUs circulate and flow within the structured patterns of space that we call particles and atoms. In this way, the coherent phases, circulation, flow, and pressure forces of this Planck plasma fluid are the source of mass, force, and charge. One of the things I’m most excited about in our recently announced partnership with Niantic Spatial 🌎, is how clearly it shows what becomes possible when world-class reconstruction technology is paired with a new kind of imagery infrastructure. At a high level: Spexi drone pilots capture imagery, and Niantic Spatial turns it into incredible city-scale reconstructions. But the real unlock is the infrastructure behind that capture. At Spexi, we’ve built what we believe is the world’s first fully standardized drone imagery infrastructure called LayerDrone. Anyone with a compatible drone and the right credentials can contribute. No building flight plans. No estimating overlap. No adjusting camera settings in the field. Pilots simply get within visual line of sight of a Spexigon, open the Spexi app, press “Fly,” and the drone autonomously captures the 25-acre area to our standard. That standardization means imagery can be collected consistently, affordably, and repeatedly across cities, one Spexigon at a time (we have now captured over 225,000 of them). That is what makes living digital twins possible, dynamic representations of the physical world that can be updated as the world changes. Niantic Spatial’s city-scale Gaussian splats show what becomes possible when the right pixels go into the system. As physical AI advances, those pixels matter even more. Daniel Dennett: "If I gave a prize to the best idea anybody ever had, I'd give it to Darwin." Not Newton. Not Einstein. Darwin. In a 2015 documentary, philosopher Daniel Dennett makes a striking case for why Darwin's idea of natural selection is the single greatest intellectual achievement in human history. His reasoning isn't just about biology. Dennett argues that what makes Darwin's idea so extraordinary is what it unifies. Before Darwin, the world was split into two seemingly incompatible realms: the physical world of cause and matter, and the world of meaning, purpose, and consciousness. These felt like they belonged to different categories entirely. One explained by science, the other by something else. Darwin's idea, Dennett says, is the backbone that bridges them: "The Darwinian idea of natural selection unifies the world. It unifies the world of cause and matter and physics with the world of meaning and purpose consciousness. The whole spectrum of life depends on uniting the living with the non-living, the meaning with the non-meaning, the purposeful with the merely mechanical and merely physical." That's not a small claim. It's a philosophical revolution disguised as a biology paper. What Dennett is pointing to is that natural selection gives us a mechanism: a purely physical, purposeless process that generates purpose. Organisms don't need a designer to have goals. The appearance of design, the reality of meaning, emerges from the bottom up. The best idea anyone ever had. No prize for second place.

The question Ashton Forbes is working through is one that connects modern physics to one of the oldest unsolved problems in archaeology - how did ancient civilizations move stones of extraordinary mass with no evidence of the mechanical infrastructure that would make it possible today. The proposition he is exploring is that sound may be the answer. If physical reality is fundamentally wave-based, then sound - itself a wave phenomenon - could theoretically produce effects that resemble gravitational influence under the right conditions of frequency and resonance. The observation that stays with Randall is a simple and domestic one. An electric shaver set down on a countertop while still running began to move on its own - vibration translating directly into physical displacement across a flat surface. He noted it at the time and filed it away. Could vibrations move objects? Under the right circumstances, the answer appeared to be yes. Randall connects that observation to his broader research into resonance physics and ancient construction - arguing that a civilization without modern material manufacturing could still have identified and applied the principles of acoustic resonance to achieve effects that brute force and conventional tooling cannot replicate. The technology would have left no physical trace. Only the results would remain - and those results, Randall suggests, are exactly what we are still staring at in disbelief at sites around the world.
