Introducing Surface - GPU-rendered 3D scenes and infinite canvases inside terminal apps, presented through Kitty graphics. Your UI stays real terminal cells; pixels render beneath them. Everything here is a terminal (libghostty, in the Unpeel app). You can test it here (Very experimental and vibed)

But why..?

I do most of my work in terminals now and this is an experiment to use terminal for more graphical apps. Less context switching for me at least.

Isn't this just GUI now.. But like, way weirder? What's the benefit?

You should still use TUI for all UI stuff. I dont know the benefit yet. Its very experimental. I like the idea that I can just open it next to my AI agent, and with that opens tons of possiblities.

Interesting. I look forward to looking into how it works. I don't even know rust but looks interesting enough that I'll have to use clankers to dive into it.

thats all I do 😂

damn, was gonna make something like this. you've beat me to it

I'm learning SO much thanks to you!

cool idea. why wgpu and metal? isnt that redundant?

what should it use?

This is one of the coolest things I have came across lately

@dhh here is new unlock for @OmarchyLinux

@dhh @OmarchyLinux would love someone with linux and ghostty installed test it. I have not been able to do yet.

I mean why not grok build could have a field day w this @elonmusk

UI 保持真实的终端单元格,像素压在字符层下渲染

This looks neat. But why go this route instead of doing a KMSDRM app and SDL

Terminals, infinite canvas, file trees, sidebars... No one is actually making anything different Please be different

you go first

On attend la mise à jour parce que l'application bug de fou
