Grateful for the outpouring the past few days. I can’t tell you how motivating it is to have people care so much about Arc. The encouragement, the criticism, the confusion. Took it all in <3 As a thank you, I’d like to speak more plainly about what’s happening and why – we owe it to you: 1. Every person who joined or invested in our company did so to build products beloved by hundreds of millions of people. “We want to be to the browser what the iPhone was to the cellphone” has been our rallying cry since Day One. We knew chance of success was low but the ambition made us leap out of bed every morning. 2. Arc is beloved, popular, and growing (4x daily actives YoY). But it’s now clear that what most people love about the product *is also* what will prevent it from reaching hundreds of millions of people in our target demographic (people who spend hours in their browsers each day for their livelihood). Arc is a niche browser, even if we did not intend for it to be so. 3. Luckily, we architected this company – from company name to investors and technical architecture – to support multiple products since Day One. See Arc Search. Our favorite brands have multiple product lines in the same category too (Apple, Nike, Disney). Hence our realization: why keep trying to make Arc something it is not? Nobody who loved Arc wanted Arc Max. Arc members just want it to be more stable, secure, and performant. “Let’s just do that!” 4. With Arc as our beloved but niche browser #1, we asked ourselves a simple question: if we founded the company TODAY (in 2024), with everything that we know, what would the browser of the future look like for hundreds of millions of people? Let’s go build *that* product, alongside Arc. A second browser that is easier to use, more focused, and more powerful. All in order to live up to our founding mission (#1 above). 5. Yet none of this would’ve happened if it weren’t for the timing (market timing is most underrated startup ingredient). Mark my words: the Web is going to dramatically change in 2025 – much more than we all appreciate. Crazy new AI & computer-use models are incoming. I promise you that new browsers will be the story of 2025 (The Browser Company aside). Why? The browser layer is the obvious epicenter of AI & Agents because of its unique context, cookies, & apps. 6. To build a breakthrough consumer product (#1) – like truly breakthrough – you need a catalyzing innovation or technology. AI will be that for the next era of browsers, whether we win or someone else does. So why us (other than Arc is niche)? Our belief is that not only do you need the browser layer to win, but “the hard part” is nailing the interface, the interactions, the storytelling. That’s our bread & butter. That’s the expertise of our team. Now you can see how these puzzle pieces fit together… We built something people love (in Arc) and we intend to stick by it. But we also won’t lose sight of why our team poured so much blood, sweat and tears over the past 4 years into this company: the mission to build a new interface to the internet used by hundreds of millions of people every day. It truly feels like the moment we were waiting for is here and we won’t miss it. Everything we’ve done up until this point was for this type of window, even if we couldn’t have predicted it would play out exactly this way. We’re hopeful that more of you will understand why we’re building this second product soon. I feel confident you will once we can show you more of what we’re dreaming up, and once more of the things we’ve heard and seen in the industry reveal themselves soon. Candidly, we wanted to wait on this announcement but random stuff was leaking and it seemed wrong for you to hear from anyone except us first. We’ve always been at our best when we’re open & honest. We’ll continue to be. Finally, THANK YOU, again, for the love & tough love. We don’t take it for granted. We can’t wait to ship, ship, ship in early 2025!

The Dallas Police Department’s new Drone as First Responder program officially launched today with eight remotely piloted drones based at Dallas Fire-Rescue stations across the City of Dallas. These drones are operated out of the Fusion/Real Time Crime Center and are designed to respond to calls for service in a two-mile radius from their base station. The base locations were selected based on heat maps of calls for service for both police and fire, placing them where they can potentially respond to the greatest number of calls. The pilots will be able to get to the scene quicker than in a squad car and begin to provide real-time intelligence and feedback to officers, as well as reduce the level of response or clear a call entirely if the incident has resolved. If a pilot sees a call in a drone’s response area where aerial intelligence can enhance officer safety, they can deploy a drone to provide critical updates to officers at the scene. Each drone is equipped with a thermal camera to help during nighttime operations, as well as a loudspeaker to make announcements to individuals on the ground. “I challenged our team to find innovative ways to continue improving our response times, and this new drone unit will not only keep officers free to respond to more calls, but provide real time updates as they are responding to calls,” said Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux. “Even during our training, our pilots were able to clear three holding calls in an hour with one drone. That alone proved their value to us, and I’m looking forward to seeing the benefits in both officer safety and response times.” Our public safety partners at Dallas Fire-Rescue will also be utilizing the Drone as First Responder program, with training for pilots underway. Under the new program, in the event of a reported structure fire, a drone will be dispatched to the scene ahead of arriving apparatus. This real-time aerial perspective will allow incident command to assess the size, scope, and intensity of a fire before firefighters even step off the apparatus. “Dallas Fire-Rescue is proud to collaborate with DPD on any initiative that will make our city safer,” said Justin Ball, Chief of Dallas Fire-Rescue. “By strategically docking the drones at our fire stations in high-demand areas, we are optimizing our response times and ensuring our tactics are more precise, while adding an extra layer of protection for the city.” This collaborative partnership between police and fire departments represents a major step forward in using smart-city technology to protect both residents and first responders.

T-1: Countdown to the ARC Customization Portal Launch 🟣 Heads Up! Spoiler Alert – Hold Off Watching If You're Not Curious 👇 Quick Tips Before You Dive into Stellar Customization Crafting the Stellar Experience In the world of Creativity and Events, it's all about the experience. It's not just about the looks or avatars, but the whole adventure into the ARC universe to claim your stellar identity. (That's why our avatar strikes that pose.) In the world of Stellars, our identities aren't bound by who we are, but what we're passionate about - ARC My advice? Grab a seat, set up your desktop. Bigger screen is better. Turn on the audio. Get ready to enjoy this journey of self-discovery. Amazing Artwork Already? It's Just the Preview The customization site's artwork is seriously impressive. As you pick different traits or move the mouse around, the colors and shadows play along. And guess what? This is just a sneak peek of the full 3D version of the stellars. Why? Because most of our computers, mine included, can't handle it. Not even my trusty Macbook. Here's the twist (what makes our 3D art cool): ARC renders the entire stellar as a whole, not just bit by bit. That's why you get those subtle reflections on sunglasses, layers of light and shadow. All the traits interact, changing with the light source. Yes, we have to wait a bit longer. But trust me, it's double the excitement. Even if you have a rough idea of how your stellars will look, the fully rendered version will blow you away. Cheers to ARC Diamond Squad & Early Contributors Being part of the ARC Diamond Squad with early contributors is an honor. We're the ones testing concepts, giving feedback, and supporting the community. Over the past months, we've had so many talks, all pointing to one thing from the ARC team — they want to give the best to the stellars. They've really taken the community's needs to heart, especially this identity customization thing. It's a privilege to get a head start on customization. We're glad we did it with limited info so all the stellars can have more reference of the traits, "rarity" & "relatability". So every stellar out there can get the best first-stage customizations. HOW TO DRIFT IN FORZA HORIZON 6 ON CONTROLLER FOR BEGINNERS! Disclaimer, I’m not exactly Drift King, some people make me look like Donkey Kong. I do it well enough for people who are completely new to drifting to ask me how I do it, so I’m going to explain how I do it, as someone who is “decent” at best at it. First of all, you’re going to want to change your transmission to Manual so that you can maintain a consistent drift, as the speed of your vehicle determines the angle of your drift, and with Automatic, you can’t control your speed. It doesn’t matter, just personal preference here, you can do your gear changes with the buttons, but if you own an Elite Controller, you can put the paddles to good use here. I like to equip only two paddles, preferably the larger ones, and map the left to X (Downshift) and map the right to B (Upshift). You also want to turn off your Traction and Stability control assists to allow your car to slide. My vehicle of preference is the Silvia Spec R, and the code for the tune I use is 146 936 201. I am using a RWD Vehicle for reference, but some people prefer AWD. For the most part, you’re going to be driving in third and fourth gear. Third gear is great for small roads and tight, closed corners where you need a sharper drift, and fourth gear is great for wide roads and corners because the extra speed is going to throw your car further forwards and make your drift angle more shallow. It’s important to look at the size of the road and the corner you have to take and judge what gear you need to be in as the speed of your car makes all of the difference. That being said, these are not real cars, if you’re going too fast, I much prefer to hold the gas and brake pedal at the same time whilst taking the drift as opposed to engine braking. It almost makes you float around the corner at a consistent speed and gives you more control. If you are on the inside edge of the corner you’re taking, you can hold your foot brake and handbrake at the same time and your car will almost push back a little giving you more space to angle yourself correctly. If this helped you, let me know 🥹

🇺🇸 At the Fort Hood training ground in Texas, the US Army is conducting one of the first live-fire tests of the latest Sgt Stout short-range air defense systems, built on the basis of the Stryker A1 combat vehicles already in service with the US Army. The complex, developed under the M-SHORAD program, is equipped with a 30mm XM914 cannon with programmable ammunition and a dual launcher for Stinger MANPADS, thereby providing protection against a wide range of targets at its effective range. Additionally, it features thermal imaging and electro-optical sensors, a radar from L3Harris, and a fire control system from the Italian Leonardo DRS, allowing the vehicle to independently detect, track, and engage targets without external targeting, relying solely on its own sensors. The exercises themselves include day and night firing drills simulating attacks by drones, helicopters, and low-flying munitions such as glide bombs, as well as cruise missiles. According to requirements, the vehicle must be capable of operating on the move and provide all-around defense for troops, and its modular design allows for the future installation of additional laser and electronic warfare systems against UAVs. With serial production starting in 2026, the "Sgt Stout" will become the backbone of mobile air defense for the US Army and National Guard, replacing the rapidly aging Avenger systems and forming an updated line of defense against short-range threats. As a new wave of fire and high winds threaten Los Angeles, the media is reporting that California’s elected leaders are not to blame and that right-wing influencers and Donald Trump are spreading misinformation and politicizing a tragedy. Racial and gender quotas through DEI aren’t to blame. No, Mayor Karen Bass didn’t cut the Fire Department’s budget. No, Gavin Newsom didn’t cut CalFire’s wildfire prevention budget. And no, there wasn’t any way to prevent these fires or the fire hydrant water from running out. Climate change made the disaster inevitable due to “whiplashing” rain levels. They’re all lies. The Fire Department had made DEI such a priority that the city’s Deputy Fire Chief dismissed concerns that women would not be able to carry a man out of a fire by saying, “He got himself in the wrong place if I have to carry him out of a fire.” Newsom did indeed reduce CalFire’s wildfire prevention budget by $150 million in 2020. If California had elected leaders who cared about the people and were competent, they could have prevented the catastrophic fires from destroying 14,000 homes and businesses and forcing nearly 200,000 people to evacuate. Climate change is not responsible for the disasters and there is no change in the rain pattern. As always, nuance is required. The offhand remark by the Fire Chief is not proof that DEI contributed to the inadequate response. The disaster is decades in the making. LA’s leaders have known that the city was unprepared for catastrophic wildfires since the Bel Air Fire of 1961, which occurred when Karen Bass was a child and Gavin Newsom wasn’t alive. LA’s fire budget had actually increased by about $50 million compared to the last budget, reported Politico, Time, and the LA Times. And Newsom increased the CalFire budget after 2020 and increased land treated for wildfire prevention by 90,000 acres. But these facts are either wrong, misleading, or both. The attitude toward vulnerable men expressed by the deputy Fire Chief is deeply alarming and anathema to firefighter ethics. That the disaster was decades in the making makes the inaction by California political leaders even more inexcusable. The City Council in November approved $53 million to raise salaries, but that funding is completely irrelevant to the millions Bass cut, which her fire chief last month said had “severely limited the department’s capacity to prepare for, train for, and respond to large-scale emergencies, including wildfires.” And while funding for wildfire prevention increased recently, it wasn’t enough, and Newsom was caught overstating how much land was treated by 690%. The amount of irresponsibility and incompetence displayed by Newsom and Bass is so extreme that insiders are coming forward and speaking out publicly. The owner of the Los Angeles Times went on national television to call it “crazy that we don’t elect leaders with competence.” And LA Fire Chief Kristen Crowley went on CNN, CBS, and Fox to denounce Bass. “Let me be clear,” she said, “the $17 million budget cut… did absolutely negatively impact…. We do not have enough firefighters….We need 62 more fire stations. We've had a 55 percent increase in overall call volume since 2010 and we’re doing it with less firefighters.” As I reported yesterday, over half of all fires that the LA Fire Department puts out are started by the homeless, who may well have started some of the fires ravaging LA. Gavin Newsom spent $24 billion of taxpayer money to increase homelessness by 40% since he took office. Karen Bass ran on a promise to force the homeless inside into shelters but has not done so. Every hour that passes, more information emerges of the corruption, incompetence, and failure. A major reservoir in Pacific Palisades, an epicenter of the fires, was out of commission for minor repairs when disaster struck. Had it been in operation, water pressure would have lasted longer during critical hours, and many homes may have been saved. Yesterday, a leaked LA government memo revealed that Bass had intended to cut an additional $49 million, on top of the $17.5 million already cut, from the fire budget. “I was also directed to develop a plan as part of a budget reduction exercise, and that could equate to 48.8 million,” the LA Fire chief told CNN. “I rang the bell that these additional cuts could be very, very devastating for our ability to provide public safety. That would have resulted to 15 fire stations closing down and potentially the elimination of over 300 firefighters.” The date of the memo is January 6, which is four days after the National Weather Service warned of danger, two days after Bass flew to Ghana on a vanity junket, and one day before the start of the Palisades fire. And LA Fire Department insiders say the head of the city’s Department of Water and Power, who Bass hired, knowingly left fire hydrants remain broken for months, and was the person responsible for draining the emptied reservoir. The response from the news media is that critics of all of this should shut up. “We’re on fire,” editorializedthe LA Times. “Maybe this is not the time for your political hot take.” Why are the LA Times and others in the media defending Bass and Newsom? In large measure because they officially endorsed them. More than that. They actively campaign for them. The hyper-partisan turn of California media two decades ago predated the more recent hyper-partisan nature of the national media. That Democrats had total, supermajority control over the state for 20 years made California media super-authoritarian. The LA Times, in particular is a radical Left publication. It has for years adamantly opposed hospitalizing homeless mentally ill people or requiring homeless addicts to go inside. In both 2020 and in 2021, the LA Times editorial board called for defunding the police to divert funding to social services. For the LA Times, Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass, who visited Cuba at least eight times, expressing admiration for its system of socialist dictatorship, aren’t Left-wing enough. For the media and California’s politicians, the problem is we the people. We complain too much. Our taxes aren’t high enough. We’re causing too much climate change. We get too much in the way of police and fire fighting. And most of all, we spend too much time listening to right-wing influencers who only spread misinformation. We need to sit down and shut up. Like LA’s radical Left deputy fire chief, the media and California’s politicians believe, deep down, that if the people of Los Angeles have to be rescued from fires, then that’s just proof that they got themselves in the wrong place.

Foreigners working at a carwash in Skegness started a fire in a burning bin to keep warm and burnt down a family business that had been serving the community for over 20 years 😔 ‼️ Official Statement from Suite Dreams As many of you are aware, we are living through a nightmare. Today, our family business, Suite Dreams, was destroyed. First, we want to address the speculation we’ve seen online. To be clear: we are tenants of this building, not owners. There were no "planning issues," and the "insurance job" accusations are as baseless as they are hurtful. The fire was a direct result of the neighbouring car wash using a metal bin for warmth. We had previously advised them that if they must use it, it had to be kept in the middle of their lot, far away from the building. However, knowing we were closed for Christmas and not there to complain, they moved the bin inside their back room. We only happened to be at the shop today by chance to pick something up. Upon arrival, we noticed a considerable amount of smoke coming from the back room in their side and found them unbelievably attempting to dab out the fire with sponges, but with the chemicals stored in that room, the fire had already taken hold of the roof. Within hours, 24 years of our hard work was gone. While we felt it necessary to set the record straight, we want the focus of this post to be on what truly matters: You. For 24 years, Suite Dreams has been our family’s life’s work. To stand by and watch what we built from the ground up be wiped out through no fault of our own is heartbreaking. But as we look back, we realise that the building was just walls—the business was the people. To our loyal customers: Thank you for choosing us to help make your houses feel like homes. Many of you have been with us since the very beginning. Your reviews, your recommendations, and your repeat visits allowed us to grow and serve Skegness with pride for over two decades. You aren't just customers; you are the reason we loved what we did. You allowed us to provide a service to this town that we have been truly, deeply proud of. To our friends and the local community: Your messages, calls, and support during this devastating time have been a lifeline. This has meant more to us than you will ever know. To everyone leaving messages of support: We also want to add that we have seen the many lovely comments you have left across posts. Your kindness is deeply appreciated and is giving our family a great deal of strength during this incredibly difficult time. To Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue: Thank you for your swift, professional response and for working so hard to bring a horrific situation under control. Your work is to be admired. We are currently processing the magnitude of this loss. We ask for your patience and kindness as we navigate the coming days. Thank you for 24 wonderful years. Suite Dreams of Skegness
