world id 1.0 and the orb were built to solve proof of personhood, an important problem of out times 2,609,549 people have already verified their world id at an orb, including more than 1% of the population of chile, 1% of argentina, and 2% of portugal

world id 2.0 introduces apps, a new way of verifying online with your world id it's so easy to create these that we already built some for reddit, minecraft, shopify, telegram, discord, and more you can explore all apps on the new worldcoin app store

world id 2.0 will also have three new verification levels orb+ ensures only you get to use your id for important actions with on-device face authentication and device verification allows you to use your world id even before you visit an orb

importantly, the second gen protocol will also feature core upgrades that make it even more open and give you even more control and yes, this will finally include the ability to return to an orb to reset your world id if it ever gets lost!

lastly, world id now actually looks like a passport :) each verified world id gets a unique gem embedded in it, and of course, you can open it to explore your verification stamps you really have to try it to believe it

world id 2.0 is a huge step forward for the protocol the upgrade begins today, and will continue over the months ahead more details in the announcement:
