Is this Derek Jeter throw iconic or overrated?🤔

Iconic asf everyone was trying to do that when I was a kid. Just because people do it all the time now doesn’t mean jeter doing it didn’t make everyone now do it. Thats why it’s normal now because of this play simple.

The throw is iconic. Unfortunately, it's the only thing most people know about Jeter defensively, so they are unaware that he's literally among the worst defensive shortstops in history.

A lot of iconic plays are overrated. It’s a great play, but a play a major league shortstop should be able to make.

Lets see, running away from 1st base (increasing the difficulty to make a play). Gets the ball from the ground while his momentum is still taking him further away from 1st base. And he still gets the out, I don't like the Yankees but I aint no hater it is

Is it a ++ play? Yes. Is it the correct way to handle that situation? Yes, which means SS train for this type of throw making it more routine than we see once in a blue moon during games. So yes, it’s overrated.

An average SS fields that ball flat footed and makes a routine throw to first.

This is one of the greatest plays from the SS position from one of the greatest players to ever play the game. If you don't believe it go look at the numbers from the SS position and where he ranks.

It's a good throw, but I am going to go with overrated because it is the first thing Yankee fans come back with when you correctly point out that Jeter was the drizzling shits when it came to defense.
