Is this the best jazz drum solo ever? 🤔

Papa Joe Jones was one of the OG’s of modern drumming as we know it today. He was an incredibly effective time keeper, but also a consummate showman. Turned the “Lo-boy” into the “Hi-Hat”. Fxckin Genius. This is awesome footage.

You see here where Bonham gets his influence.

Not the greatest, but outstanding. Check out our drummer Kenny, who played and sang with the late Luther Davis…nuthin’ fancy, but he drove the band!

Amazing!

This is great but no one better than the fabulous Art Blakey.

Papa Joe Jones, never heard of him

reminds me of a Mastodon drum solo

Not quite, though it's bloody good . . . (I know, it was Part 2 of this that became the big hit, but the full version is such a kick still . . . )

A Level of Finesse that does not exist in the World of Today.

I’m so happy his parents didn’t stifle him! 💯must’ve been a lovely time at home🤭🫶🏾🫶🏾

Not seen it before - it must rank up there 👆🥁🎶

Buddy Rich’s influence.
