I was a DH ski racer for years, probably skied way too fast but was always aware of my surroundings and knew someone in front of me would probably cut across…if you’re going to ski or snowboard straight down a trail expect this…to not expect this is moronic.

@Ilegvm That’s a green circle run. Boarder at fault.

If you’re bombing groomers like this and blame a jerry for turning wide. You’re the problem.

The guy cutting across was going behind his kid, for safety. Snowboarder should have cut right, more space, opposite of downhill skiers

Well a problem with uphill rider is he doesnt change course. Why wouldnt he cut right problem solved.

Better decisions all over

A.) yes B.) the rule includes the wording “in a controlled manner.” This way, the person uphill can see what’s coming and is skiing in a controlled banner in order to avoid the collision. Arguing that the slow skier is traversing is your failure to imagine that there could be a slow skier in the compression that you can’t see yet … and they always traverse and they’re always there

Yes, that snowboarder is at fault. However, if someone comes darting out of the trees directly in front of you and you hit them then it becomes their fault. That dude was visible at all times.

Dudes just an idiot for dodging the way the guy was going. Why not go the opposite direction 😂

You don’t go Mach chicken down the center of the slope. If you want to rip at full speed, create a lane on the outside 1/3rd and be prepared to scrub speed to the inside of the run. Red line is how most people behave. Black line is for speed.

Yup, boarder at fault. Looking at the hill it pretty much looks like a beginner hill too. Mightnot want to go banzaing down the bunny slope.

Snowboarder is at fault. That skier’s path was incredibly easy to predict.

Yes. He definitely shouldn't have cut the same direction. Thats just common sense. But yeah, the slow people going sideways across the trail are annoying af. I squared up and plowed right into the back of one of those idiots once

Why would you try to bail left? This was really bad boarding on your part. Based on this I'm sticking with whoever is uphill is at fault.

Damn caught yourself in 4k not knowing how to toe carve.

Boarder should’ve cut to right behind skier not left in line he was going

Mob Buster's profile picture

The snowborder can take the fall line but it's his responsibility to be aware of others. The skier was visible to him in plenty of time to evade.

I hate skiers! I haven’t looked yet but I am guessing everyone in the comments is just fine with some asshole crossing the entire slope because he is on skis. Bet that if the skier was filming and got cut off by the snowboarder everyone would shit on the boarder.

I firmly believe it’s a skill check. And recognizing what they may or may not do, is part and parcel of being out there. It’s kind of like defensive driving that way, especially if you speed

SouperMan's profile picture

I definitely would have made a toe side carve pretty early on. Skier was making a lot of long wide turns so it was predictable. Not an incident I would have had. But, it is amazing how often skiers complain.

Snowboarder. You could see the conflict developing between the two skiers. I would have slowed down and cut right.

Why would you “bail left” when you had way more room to the right and there was even more traffic in front of you to the left (looks like a child). Lemme guess, couldn’t hang a right, can’t really ride very well. You’re on the bunny slope, and skier 1 is dad protecting his kid from dumbasses.

@Cat5SMASHICANE Totally the snowboard’s fault. He’s straight lining

Conservative Cat 1791's profile picture
Conservative Cat 17918 months ago

Yes, the skier above, in the video POV is at fault as the lower skier cannot know of the speed and position of the faster skier. The faster skier needs to be in control of their own skiing at all times.

Cormac McGeough's profile picture
Cormac McGeough8 months ago

If you going fast you need to be able to have the ability to control your speed and ski hill users below you.

Sam's profile picture

If people downhill are skiing erratically it’s on you to slow down to safely pass them……they should be encouraged to not ski erratically but the individual incident is on the boarder here for sure. I say that as someone who loved bombing hills too
