Apple recently filed a patent number US20230225659A1 The new earbuds described in the patent will allow Apple to read your brain waves “Earbuds that are designed and patented by Apple to literally read your brain waves, record your brain waves — You're not going to believe what these guys have the control to do with these. Check this out. The patent is for a bio signal sensing device using dynamic selection of electrodes. This is absolutely Apple, it is 2023 and it gets not good. Brain activity can be monitored using electrodes placed on the scalp of a user. The electrodes may in some case be placed inside or around the outer ear of the user. It lets AI agents run Macintosh, Windows, and Linux boxes like a human can. But I see it as a bigger deal than that. It, and a few other companies, are laying down the groundwork for robots, and humans with AI glasses, or brain/computer interfaces, to run our world in a whole new way.

For now, BCIs like mine are output-only. They don’t generate input in the brain. They simply read neural signals and turn them into actions — like controlling a computer with your mind. In the future, I do think BCIs will be able to generate input into the brain. We are very far from that today, and anyone saying otherwise is getting ahead of reality. But if we ever get there, the most important question won’t be technical. It’ll be: what will it mean to be human?
