Tesla is building a new 51,000 sq ft Service & Delivery Center in Grand Prairie, Texas, with city documents also allowing the site to support Tesla-owned autonomous vehicles. I visited the site, and the city’s SUP amendment says the facility may be used for charging, cleaning, repair, and maintenance of Tesla-owned autonomous vehicles. The documents identify the project as a service and delivery center, but the approved use also makes it a potential support location for Tesla’s Robotaxi fleet in DFW.

It's an honor to be the first Korean🇰🇷 to experience Tesla's robotaxi. (With Seung) Came from Korea to Austin, Texas for 12,500KM(7,700mile) to meet a robotaxi. Definitely one of the best choices of my life. Robotaxi is the future of autonomy. You can feel quite safe, and the App is user-friendly. I'm grateful that I can act and feel Tesla's technology and culture, all of this. I have come to believe more that the business of this robotaxi will do well in the future, and this is a must for South Korea as well. Thank you to both Tesla Robotaxi team and Elon Musk for providing an incredible experience!

Konnie is a remarkable & inspirational person who runs a website “Gliding Through Blindness” & makes YouTube videos with the help of several products & services to document her adventures. She is also highly adept with technology & what it offers to help people like her with disabilities not only regain independence, but live a full & highly productive life In these clips, we talk about opportunities for the Tesla AI & Tesla Robotaxi teams to make the service better for people like her, thoughts about Neuralink & how that technology offers promise to countless people for improved lives, & her summary thoughts following 4 rides spanning almost 2 hours of driving in a Tesla Robotaxi today. Interesting edge case with Tesla Robotaxi today. As Ellie in Space 🚀💫 and I were arriving at our drop off, a thunderstorm was nearby and support contacted us to say the service needed to pause until the storm passed. Problem was we were in an open park with no cover. We had to end the ride, get out and then resume on the car. Problem was we got a high demand please try again message on the app. The support had to reset the system to allow us to by pass the high demand and then we immediately got another Robotaxi before the rain hit. This is due to the early stage of Robotaxi and the level of caution Tesla is using at the moment.

1 Year Anniversary of Tesla Tesla Robotaxi Launch ... Reliving that 1st day! One year ago a small group or people including me received an invitation from Tesla_AI to be among the first to participate in the launch of the Tesla Robotaxi service. The launch took place in Austin Texas on 22 June 2025 and was punctuated by a lot of excitement, some uncertainty or what to expect, waiting for the app to download and then hailing the first ride as the small group of participants faced out in the initial service area and waited for their Robotaxi to arrive! For this initial launch, Tesla used Model Y's with the "Robotaxi" logos on the doors and rear hatch and had supervisors in the passenger seat but the cars all drove autonomously and did exceptionally well. We had all kinds of media trailing behind trying to get images, interviews or any information about our experiences, and this made for a surreal day, almost like paparazzi chasing after high-profile celebrities. Over the next year, the Robotaxi service would slowly scale to new cities, initially Austin and the San Fransisco areas, and then later to Houston and Dallas while preparations for several more cities were underway. The fleet did scale up but slowly, going through several revisions and updates of the autonomous software, becoming fully unsupervised and the fleet management aspects of the Robotaxi service were further developed. Regulatory permits and filings also took place to position the Robotaxi service for what we all hope will be large-scale expansion including the addition of the new Cybercabs, which are now in limited production and are testing multiple locations around the US. What will year 2 be like for Robotaxi? All indications are a very big year, but ultimately, Tesla needs to demonstrate they can execute on their plans, preparations and Cybercab production. I'm very hopeful they will be able to do so starting very soon! However, I argue the following: • Tesla likely has a 4-5 year lead in generalized autonomous driving. • Tesla has millions of vehicles that could be potentially deployed into a Robotaxi network once unsupervised FSD is ready. • With a large supply of cars offering quick rides at cheaper prices than Uber and Lyft (no human driver), Tesla's robotaxi network will be extremely difficult to compete against. • Newcomers entering the market years later will struggle to match Tesla's supply density, competitive pricing, and demand, even in a single city. In other words, Tesla’s first mover advantage in the Robotaxi market will likely be very significant and the resulting network effects will make it extremely difficult to compete with for future newcomers to the Robotaxi market.
