Why oh why doesn’t our establishment accept that its only moral obligation is to the British state and the British people? Not to global welfare. Not to international liberalism. To us, and our country, and our self-government. That is it. The moment they do that, so many of the issues which plague our society become easier to manage. Immigration is no longer a question of benefitting the largest number of global citizens but about boosting the British economy while keeping British people safe. Foreign relations is not about promoting obscure minority rights in far off lands but about securing British interests wherever necessary. And most of all we drop the idea that every culture in the world is the same and therefore anybody can fit in here, and celebrate the fact that Britain has a highly distinct, highly evolved culture all of its own that we want to cherish and protect. What’s so difficult about that?

Mr. Rahul Gandhi has a stature across the globe. Now, if you are the Prime Minister of a country like India, inevitably, you have a reach across the globe. But somebody who has not been prime minister yet is the Leader of the Opposition, having that kind of outreach and demand is, in itself, a very significant thing. And I think India should be using it to its own advantage rather than running down any such decision that's taken after great thought and consideration. At any given time, Parliament is important, but it's equally important for Mr. Gandhi as indeed it is for the Prime Minister. But then there are international events that cannot be changed because of the Indian Parliament and other events, beyond a certain point. So, when a decision is finally taken after much thought—for an event that should not be missed—I think for somebody to then raise questions about it is completely uncharitable, unkind and unreasonable. But be that as it may, we're looking at the positives of this visit to Germany. Mr Gandhi is visiting Germany on the invitation of the Progressive Alliance—an important alliance of 117 progressive parties of the world, of which 30 are in power. He has been invited to the Presidium of the Progressive Alliance, and I believe that his contribution there—as it was at the Bharat Summit, where the Progressive Alliance was delighted to meet with him—will be enormous. We are in an uncertain world. A new world order is emerging, and we are not entirely comfortable with some of its directions. Obviously, there are many imponderables that need to be dealt with. Our relationship with Europe and its relationship with the rest of the world—including within Ukraine and Russia—matter enormously. And of course, our relationship with Europe is not just between political parties but also with the cutting-edge industry there. Surely, Rahul ji will have a chance to meet with many of the heads of industry. And what he will bring back for India is something that India cannot overlook. India needs as much participation of investment from the world, including from Europe, as possible. The presidents of the two countries addressed each other with opening remarks: President of China, Xi Jinping: The whole world is watching our meeting. Currently, a transformation not seen in a century is accelerating across the globe, and the international situation is fluid and turbulent. The world has come to a new crossroads. Can China and the United States overcome the Thucydides Trap and create a new paradigm for major country relations? Can we meet global challenges together and provide more stability for the world? Can we, in the interest of the well-being of our two peoples and the future of humanity, build a brighter future together for our bilateral relations? As this year’s #UNGA activities wind down, we must remember that this is not the end. It is in all our interests to choose the future we want and to guide our world towards it. The journey continues. With all the great videos out there of the Europeans enjoying their stay, it’s not getting enough attention that they are also saying America is not what their media has lied to them about. Our own media shows us divided but here we are embracing each other and accepting of different cultures. The difference is that, acceptance, pride and respect. Totally different from the illegals who don’t want to assimilate here and in Europe that we all want out of our countries. The World Cup response should be a wake up call to our leaders.
