Kevin Skelton was from a nationalist Catholic background. He was a well-known GAA referee in Tyrone. His wife was killed in the Omagh bomb. I don’t see why some anti-GFA republicans still defend this atrocity, the posters of Liam Campbell everywhere a few years ago were awful.

The bomb was constructed in Ireland, the detonator was made in their factory in Ireland, the car used was stolen from Ireland, and the bomb team disappeared back into Ireland afterwards. Against that background, the position adopted in 2024 by the Irish Tánaiste is striking. While pledging to be "fully cooperative", Micheál Martin insisted that one public inquiry into Omagh (committed to by the British Government) was "optimal" and that "two separate inquiries doesn't make sense because it would be clear overlap and duplication and crossing each other". It is proof of, despite our ethnic proximity and shared Christian faith, just how difficult it is for tribes to live in peace. It was hard enough with the native populations of the British Isles. It is impossible to have a cohesive society with all the foreign colonies we have imported into our midst. We are not at the start of this experiment. We are in the middle of it, and it is going horribly. It has to end.
