It turns out, violating a person‘s first amendment rights because you were pressured by a senator that didn’t like what they had to say is, in fact, not legal. And will cost you a lot. Right, Sen. Marsha Blackburn? Let’s remind everyone what the first amendment says, since apparently... even MAGA senators that want to be governor are THAT FUCKING STUPID. The First Amendment states, in relevant part, that: “Congress shall make no law...abridging freedom of speech.” The government can't restrict free speech — not even hate speech or flag-burning or protests of military funerals. It can't muzzle the media, unless it concerns outright lies made with malicious intent. And peaceful protests are protected. Every Congressperson that had somebody fired over comments they made regarding Kirk violated that person’s first amendment right. Hopefully those people will also sue you after they’re done suing the employers that fired them illegally.show more

JUST IN: The ACLU is suing Louisiana over Act 399, which prohibits interference with ICE operations there. ACLU Louisiana: "Act 399 criminalizes first amendment protected speech by essentially suggesting that if anyone were to delay, thwart or interfere with border patrol agents trying to effect arrests of individuals, they could be charged with a crime. And the reason why we believe that this is a first amendment violation is because the words delay or interfere or thwart are very vague. And we believe that the attorney general is using this vagueness to intimidate, threaten, and chill first amendment speech." Apparently deporting illegal immigrants is unconstitutional. That makes sense, right???

When I was growing up, it never made sense to me that the KKK and the Nazis were allowed to have marches, spewing their hate openly despite their violent, hateful past. It was explained to me that under the 1st Amendment, their speech is protected, no matter how disagreeable or hateful it is. TODAY, Pam Bondi said that you can be targeted by the DOJ for free speech if you say mean things about Charlie Kirk or trump because that is "hate speech." Doesn’t that LITERALLY contradict the principle the right has been celebrating about Charlie Kirk? Isn’t that… unconstitutional?
