We didn't 'work from home' we didn't have central heating, the damn windows were covered in ice on the INSIDE! I told ons young lass we had outside toilets and she nearly fainted with shock lol!! My mum worked long hours on her feet in a cotton mill and was paid a pittance!

Ice on the inside of the windows in winter. Working shifts in a factory 9 or 10hrs a day comming home stinking of suds oil. Yes I did say suds oil. And all for around 80 quid a week if you we're lucky. It was grind or starve.

Im a boomer 🤣🤣too had nothing brought up till 7 in a house id watch rats skuttle across kitchen floor outside toilet no heating 1 coal fire in a room & kitchen wher 9 off us slept & my parents in lounge in a bed went into cupboard remember beeing hungry too no benfits then

Absolutely! I'm a gen X who watched boomers scrimp n save, n make do n mend - I learnt, hence my work ethic- I've instilled in mine too.. I now sit back, reap what I've sewn by sacrifice n hard work - not expecting the biggest, flashiest, better before I can afford 💥..

@Michaelmcgear13 Absolutely June , my family was similar growing up when we all struggled but we just got on with it because we had no other choice, I worked for many years 70/90 hours a week to give my kids a better live than I had & I had ambition , drive , determination oh happy days

We got the neighbours kid clothes twice a year. Only problem was there were two of us. Had fucking murders over a certain T-shirt 🤣… Chicken noodle soup from a packet for years. If we wasn’t in had to eat it cold. Used to watch friends with nice stuff and just admired it. Closest I ever got to a nice pair of trainers was looking in a shop window day dreaming.
