I’ve got a WAY BETTER idea for Abs: - Locate this machine - Get on it - Select a weight that will be very challenging in the 5-10 rep range - Do a set to failure or close - Take 3 mins rest - Repeat - Take 3 mins...

I can confirm, I've been exercising for 5-6 years in my life and I never had abs neither I cared about having them, 2 months ago I started using this machine with a few other abs exercises 3x a week and I've never seen my stomach looking so good like this before!

Never seem to find the right position? What’s the ideal position? Also what about obliques?

Dean Turner profil fotoğrafı
Dean Turner7 ay önce

Depends on build of machine and your skeletal structure Hard to say for certain Usually top of shoulder is at top of back pad tho For obliques: An exercise that challenges lateral flexion And an exercise that challenges trunk rotation

thanks man, your stuff has helped me narrow down the exercises to do!

Isn’t one targeting the upper abs significantly more and the other is targeting lower abs significantly more? Both are great, just depends what your focus is from my experience.

Just did this machine today 💪🏼 It’s perfect for core - contracting both the abs and the hip flexors.

I love when people over complicate abs and calves training.

You legit need 1 exercise for each

100%, problem with most people is they just flat out don’t train them hard at all.

Absolute core destroyer this thing. I also do decline sit ups/crunches on the bench as well. Not sure any other ab workout is needed with these two in your programming.

What am I doing wrong if I feel like my back feels weird while doing it? Drop the weight down?

Dean Turner profil fotoğrafı

Potentially The focus should be on flexing and extending your spine with arms and legs fixed in place

I do this 4x a week. Can confirm it works. The moral is: Don't be a dummy doing infinite bicycle crunches and wondering why you don't have visible abs.

Difference between the two : he’s building “empty” muscle, the look and feel of abs She’s building a proper core, functionality and flexibility. Her method is better, takes longer time but ultimately stronger core than him

Both are correct. Hers works more overall core rather than straight up abdominal muscles. But both do a great job for the midsection.

Meh. The incline bench reverse crunch thing is brutal, good, and can be done at any gym. Not sure why she’s leaving her bum on the bench though, she should get that whole lower body in the air, straighten legs and lower down slowly.

They added one of these to my gym. Basically lock the arms out on the bar and drive pmforward using abs. Incredible bit of kit, never seen it before ! Have you?

How is he 3 times my size but ab crunches 1/3 of my work weight? I don't get it.

Here’s my take on technique/form/finding the right weight to use for a given exercise: Let’s say you do a set of 8 reps and if we were to rate each rep on quality, the breakdown would be… Rep 1 - 10/10 Rep 2 - 10/10 Rep 3 - 10/10 Rep 4 - 10/10 Rep 5 - 10/10 Rep 6 - 10/10 Rep 7 - 9/10 Rep 8 - 8/10 That is a perfectly acceptable outcome It is an indication that you selected the right weight and did the set properly Now let’s say you do a set of 8 reps and if we were to rate each rep on quality, the breakdown would be… Rep 1 - 10/10 Rep 2 - 10/10 Rep 3 - 10/10 Rep 4 - 9/10 Rep 5 - 8/10 Rep 6 - 7/10 Rep 7 - 6/10 Rep 8 - 5/10 That is a surefire sign you need to reduce the load and pick a weight you can actually handle with better overall technique/form for the FULL DURATION of the set Some minor slippages in technique/form are probably going to happen in plenty of instances when you’re training hard/pushing yourself I’ve often said “your first rep should look very similar to your last rep sans concentric rep velocity” Very similar = it should be close enough Ultimately, there is FINE LINE between (A) pushing hard yet maintaining technique to the point that it could still be considered “pretty good” even when approaching/reaching failure and (B) pushing hard but letting technique fall by the wayside in the pursuit of continuing to move weight from point A to point B by any means necessary Example of elite technique from end to end:
