Jensen Huang says computing is no longer pre-recorded or pre-compiled. Traditional software like Excel ran the same for everyone now AI adapts to each user and moment. Every sound, pixel, and output is generated in real time based on context. This requires massively more compute, as software now thinks...

Sounds like someone who never operated a large scale distributed system.

I just posted a LinkedIn article about this shift and why VCs and academics are missing this We now have a quantum problem that requires quantum thinking opposed to deterministic thinking. All models we've witnessed are static up to this point. What we are designing for is probablistic and needs to self improved and be designed for emergent behaviour

I think there's insufficient understanding to the fact that a lot of people want a static experience, just one that they like, and they want it to stay that way for a very long time.

Here's the issue though: no one needs this.

Welcome to the world of approximate software, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't all while using 100x the power. 😂

This is so stupid. Ask an accountant if this sounds like a good idea.

@WesRoth, real-time context generation significantly changes how we think about software development.

If software is now adaptive and context-driven, identity and authentication can no longer be static either. Dynamic systems require dynamic trust models. The real shift isn’t just compute. It’s how we prove presence in real time.

"every sound, pixel, and output is generated in real time based on context" is exactly what smart contracts do for finance. DeFi already proved this model: every interest rate, every liquidation, every swap price is computed in real time based on on-chain context. Jensen is describing crypto's financial architecture but for all of computing

Incredible insight 💙⚡ Software that thinks in real time (alive, adaptive, and reactive) is a whole new era of computing.

jensen is describing the shift from static software to dynamic ai generation. excel runs the same way for everyone, but ai adapts per user per moment. compute requirements are exploding

Ahh and to run it, you will all need my new Nvidia chips. Such a coincidence. :D But honestly that is such a bushtit, ppl want reliable SW that does things they want to do and do it fast. Not SW that will just try to think what you want and x% times do it wrong.

Exciting shift with AI adapting in real-time! It's like software playing chess with us. How do you see this impacting blockchain’s evolution? 🚀

Software is evolving from tools to collaborators. Real-time adaptation changes how we interact, create, and scale ideas. Understanding this shift is how you stay ahead in tech.

Massively more compute or just making what we already have in place better?

At its core, Jensen Huang is saying exactly this: AI is replacing classical, pre-defined software. Instead of fixed code, systems react situationally and context-aware in real time. Software thinks before it responds. The consequence: you need very few developers.

WesRoth, he leaves out the complexity of balancing real-time generation with performance and resource constraints. Those 'massively more' requirements can often lead to tough engineering trade-offs.

I don't think stochastic probabilistic computing can be scientific. That's the issue. Vibe machines and vibe OS etc, cannot be secured, cannot be correct, cannot be formal, cannot be scientific. If everyone's calculator behaves different, how do we trust the math?

Jensen Huang is on fire at CES 2026 Event 🎯 "How you run the software, how you develop the software fundamentally changed. The entire five-layer stack of the computer industry is being reinvented. You no longer program the software, you train the software. You don't run it on CPUs, you run it on GPUs. And whereas applications were pre-recorded, pre-compiled, and run on your device, now applications understand the context and generate every single pixel, every single token, completely from scratch every single time. Computing has been fundamentally reshaped as a result of accelerated computing, as a result of artificial intelligence. Every single layer of that five-layer cake is now being reinvented. Well, what that means is some ten trillion dollars or so of the last decade of computing is now being modernized to this new way of doing computing. What that means is hundreds of billions of dollars, a couple of hundred billion dollars in VC funding each year, is going into modernize and inventing this new world. And what it means is a hundred trillion dollars of industry, several percent of which is R&D budget, is shifting over to artificial intelligence. People ask where is the money coming from? That's where the money is coming from. The modernization to AI, the shifting of R&D budgets from classical methods to now artificial intelligence methods. Enormous amounts of investments coming into this industry, which explains why we're so busy. And this last year was no difference. This last year was incredible. This last year... there's a slide coming."

Marc Benioff just exposed the biggest hypocrisy in the AI boom. The companies building the AI that’s supposed to kill software are some of Salesforce’s largest customers. Benioff: “The AI companies love our products and they can’t buy enough of them. They’re some of our largest customers now: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Amazon, you name it.” Let that land. The most advanced AI labs on earth. The companies with more engineering talent and compute than anyone. The ones building the technology that analysts say will make traditional software obsolete. Still buying traditional software. At scale. Benioff: “No one has a company that’s running entirely on a large language model because it’s not real.” Not because they haven’t tried. Because an LLM is not a foundation. It’s a feature. Benioff: “Yeah, Minority Report, I watched the movie. Great guys, fantastic. But I’m in the present-moment reality right now. We’re living in this world. This is 2026.” The analysts writing reports about fully autonomous AI companies have never had to run one. Benioff is running one of the largest enterprise software companies on earth. The gap between those two perspectives is where billions of dollars are being misallocated. Benioff: “How are we doing our financials, our HR, our customer information? How are we doing all of these aspects of our business?” A neural network that hallucinates cannot execute a financial transaction that has to be right every single time. Cannot secure customer data with zero tolerance for error. Cannot provide the determinism that every real business runs on. Benioff: “We need the determinism, and the programmability, and the security, and the sharing.” AI doesn’t replace those requirements. It sits on top of them. Benioff: “I think the software industry is going to be bigger and broader and do more this year than ever before.” The future isn’t AI replacing software. It’s AI making software exponentially more powerful. The smartest people building the future already know this. They’re the ones still buying the software.
