Bitcoin will be the last thing that is hacked by quantum. Worry about easier accounts at banks and brokerage. Your 4 digit pin is toast. Quantum will probably secure cryptography before it hacks it.

When the CEO of $IBM, a company leading the development of quantum computing, tells you that crypto is at risk from what’s being developed it might be a good time to listen.

If Quantum computers do render security moot, what do we do? All go to gold?

The quantum risk is real, but “commercially useful quantum computing” and “breaking Bitcoin’s cryptography” are very different thresholds. The real market question is whether Bitcoin can migrate to post-quantum signatures before that threshold is reached.
