It's the great John Candy's birthday so here's a fun story: The night before they filmed this scene from SPLASH, producer Brian Grazer said that John Candy had gone out to party with Jack Nicholson until 5AM the night before, immediately came to set after to film the racquetball scene, and Candy played the character how he really felt: Extremely hungover. Grazer said, "The night with Nicholson, I think he overdid it, so he literally ran into the ball that hit him in the head." Amazing.

According to Ron Howard, Candy profusely apologized when he arrived, and Howard told him it was fine and that they would begin shooting. Candy then revealed that he had not slept and was actually drunk. The night before, he had gone to a bar where he encountered Jack Nicholson, who recognized him and proceeded to buy him drinks throughout the night. Candy had told Nicholson, "But I've got to go shoot." Nicholson simply replied, "You're going to be all right, kid. Don't worry about it." Candy then went on to film his scene on the racquetball court, where he was hit by the ball, and managed to get it right in just three takes.

The entire ending scene was cut short and changed to what we see now —which Martin couldn't understand why, as Candy wasn't acting, nothing which could come from a script, but being himself.

In spite of the impressive cast of "Murder by Death" (1976), some had their doubts about how the film would do at the box office. Peter Sellers didn't realize how well the film would do. He wasn't pleased with his performance or the final film. He told producer Ray Stark the film was "the epitome of 8mm home moviemaking" and sold his percentage for about $1.3 million. The filming of Gaspar Noé's "Love" (2015) began in October 2014 and was completed in February 2015, 3 months prior to its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. According to Noé, the movie wasn't ready when the official selection was announced. One week later, the first edit of the movie was ready and Noé showed it to Thierry Frémaux, director of the Cannes Film Festival. He thought it would be good to have the movie in the festival.
