Nobody cares what Sussan Ley says. It really is that simple. For the past week, members of the coalition and the mainstream media condemned the idea of people marching for Australia. Marching to send a strong message to Canberra that our immigration levels are too high, which they really are. Yet the Australian people came out in force. A peaceful force. People of all ethnicities who see Australia as their common bond all marched together. They marched in the middle of an economic crisis. They marched during a major housing shortage. They had a a simple message – put Australia first. Things are bad and they are getting worse. Young people are struggling to find meaningful work that pays enough to cover their rent. The idea of homeownership for them - a pipedream. It has never been this hard, and it will only get better when the politicians start listening. Ley as leader of the opposition is supposed to be the voice of an alternative government… with alternative ideas. The opposition should be giving a voice to the millions of Australians that are demanding change. Ordinary Australians are not naturally street protestors, and when they feel the need to come out in their thousands across the country, it is only because they don’t feel like they are being heard or represented in parliament. It is really Sussan's failure to do her job that has caused this circumstance. The truth is the protests only happened because the so-called opposition is absolutely useless right now. Ley simply apes the government’s narratives, opposing the very people that should prefer to vote for her. The best way to capture the spirit of a nation is not to chide them, chastise them or patronise them - like a primary school vice principal coaching the debate team. Sussan’s job is to give a voice to the voiceless. To speak for the forgotten Australians who are being badly hurt by Albanese’s open border policies, and inability to correct the economic slide. Regrettably, I fear the right-of-centre street activism will continue to build. More and more ordinary, taxpaying and hardworking Australians will see fit to hit the streets demanding a voice, until there is something like an opposition. Albanese is a terrible prime minister, hardly a man of the people, not charismatic and easy to beat. Ley, Littleproud, O’Brien and their coalition team are just that bad, that Albanese can do as he pleases - hurting the people of Australia. No amount of lecturing or wishful thinking from Ley and her parliamentary supporters will change the fact that the Australian people want to see change. Authentic, real and meaningful change. Not just a controlled opposition. We need the sort of change the leftwing powerbrokers in the coalition don’t want to see. Change that is is bad for their back-pockets. Change the politicians don’t want to see, because it will limit their future careers as global elite champagne sipping bureaucrats, working for the OECD or some other useless organisation. But it is only when that change comes that there will be support for their party. It is only change that will bring the temperature down. If the coalition don’t make significant change, they will simply die out completely. The first step is to replace Sussan with someone who believes in Australia and knows how to fix the place. That or get out of the way. It’s urgent. I just want Australia back.

This is exactly what Dr Solomon Guramatunhu means when he says that ZANUPF is a reflection of the people it leads. You leave Zimbabwe for greener pastures in England and set up a new life there. Then you ruin it all by getting so drunk and then getting behind the wheel and driving. How different are you, really, from the very leaders you ran away from? You put the lives of other motorists at serious risk, all for the love of alcohol. As Dr Nkosana Moyo told me over breakfast in 2019, even a change of government will not bring change unless we first change the nation's mindset. The tragedy is that some fools will still come out to defend this stupidity. You cannot have a Zimbabwe different from the one under ZANUPF today if the citizen does not change their mindset. If you do not care about other motorists dying from your stupidity, how different are you from those who do not care about killing fellow citizens through misrule? If you live in a democracy like Britain, where the rules are fair to all, how can a democratic Zimbabwe, assuming it ever comes, be any different with such a mindset? We need to change our own thinking and habits first, before we demand that others change theirs. This was sheer stupidity, and it could have been lethal, not just to him, but to other innocent people.

Foreign interference doesn’t a legitimate uprising make. But nor does foreign interference make an uprising illegitimate. What it does do is that it makes its political independence more vital. Real solidarity means amplifying Iranian voices that are for Iran, not foreign powers; not the CIA or Mossad. Real solidarity means opposing war and coercive sanctions that punish ordinary people. Real solidarity means refusing externally curated “leaders”. As our governments continue to toe Washington’s line, the task is to pressure, inform, and educate — and extend concrete support to Iranians pursuing their own vision of a free Iran. History shows that regimes fall — sometimes with catastrophic results for the people, sometimes with beneficial results for the people. History also shows that oppressed peoples have no choice other than to rebel so that today’s popular struggle can become tomorrow’s organised force for political liberation.

There are some who are still saying that the Baltics, our region, we are exaggerating, that we were prisoners of our own history. So the war did not create new Russia. It stripped away the excuses that let people pretend the old one was becoming something else. And that is something being spread across Europe. Already was mentioned the dynamics on day to day. What is the changing on the war efforts, war economy? And obviously we can reiterate the numbers. Obviously the Russia today spends roughly 7 to 8% of GDP and roughly 40% of federal budget expenditure on defense and security. And it is the highest share since the Soviet collapse. And that should be noted. But on top of that, which is more alarming, is that church, state media, education curricula, industry, the courts have all been folded into a single machine whose output is the war effort. And that has to be registered. And really, do not make no mistake. That is not wartime mobilisation in the sense we understand in democracy, when we speak about a temporary redirection of resources toward an external goal. It is the opposite. The war has become the organising principle of the state itself, and the state has organised everything else around sustaining it. So I want to be really blunt, because I think this room can handle it from seeing familiar faces. Russia is not a state that happens to be run by a strong man who came out of the KGB. Russia is a state built and operated by security services, for security services as a permanent condition. putin is not aberration sitting on top of normal state apparatus. The right question is what happens to the system whose entire logic is a threat detection, repression, and control regardless of who occupies the top chair. And there is a comfortable story in the Western capitals that ordinary Russians are quietly against this war, that repression is holding back at Latin majority that would choose differently if only given a chance. I do not believe that, and frankly the evidence does not support it. If there were a real organised majority demand for change inside Russia, we would see it. Not because Russians are uniquely passive, history proves the opposite when the conditions are right. But because when a majority generally wants a change, it finds a way to make that one visible, costly to ignore, and difficult to suppress indefinitely. So the simple, uncomfortable logic conclusion is this. The absence of visible mass demand for change is itself the evidence. Passive discontent that never translates into political consequence is not resistance, it is accommodation. And there is the line I want people to sit with. The proposed indefinite stay-away by Zimbabwe’s war veterans’ leader Blessed “Bombshell” Geza has failed to take off. The idea that people would get food from retailers or wholesalers was Alice in Wonderland stuff, it was never going to work or happen in a country where most businesses are owned by the corrupt cabal that the action intended to remove or loosen its grip on power. Secondly, Zimbabweans want to be liberated from corrupt rule by a particular type of political group and politician, so without the traditional opposition throwing its weight behind Geza's call, his efforts were always going to be in vain even though they are noble and progressive. The failure of this stay-away ends any immediate hope that citizens will participate in any liberation efforts unless mobilised by the traditional opposition, which does not exist, or by the military. I will be blunt. Short of a military intervention to stop Emmerson Mnangagwa’s corrupt rule, he will now get everything he wants, including term extensions. He is relentless. Zimbabweans will now be stuck with Mnangagwa until the day he dies and possibly will have to accept that his kids will rule them too with the assistance of his crooked cronies and clansmen. Zimbabweans should forget about the 2028 election and as a local doctor mentioned on social media, begin working through the five stages of grief: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance. It is pointless putting your hopes in a process that you know too well will be rigged. For him to fail to achieve what he wants, Mnangagwa would have to make a catastrophic mistake, like killing loads of people which will attract international scrutiny or firing his Vice President, General Constantino Chiwenga which might finally trigger a decisive response. There is now nobody with the capacity to stop him, short of a military intervention or death. Geza has tried, but there is no tangible citizen support that was forthcoming. Geza managed to force Mnangagwa’s team to stop chanting the 2030 slogan and pushed them into another plan of bribing MPs with illegally parcelled land. But after today, the dictator knows that Geza is now all alone, unless the military intervenes, which, as I have said before, is now looking highly unlikely unless they are provoked by the continued conspicuous consumption of looted public funds. So, Zimbabweans must now accept the reality that their failure to sacrifice for their liberation by simply staying at home will mean more unemployment, more looting of public funds, more dilapidated hospitals and public infrastructure, and more economic pain all around. Those are the grim political and socio-economic realities of Zimbabwe going forward, nothing less, nothing more. Journalists will continue writing about corruption scandals, but only for historical records and as part of our job, and for many readers, it would be for entertainment value sadly. Some will just switch to issues that have positive mental health outcomes. If you are young, have a passport, and have somewhere to go, my advice is to leave, otherwise, you will just become another tragic statistic of poverty, unemployment, and possibly death in a derelict hospital. Ordinarily, Africans do not care about who is in power if they have the basic necessities of life. But sadly, in Zimbabwe, those necessities will remain out of reach for as long as Mnangagwa and his corrupt cabal are in power. As for the opposition, it is dead. There will be no pushback for reasons you all know. You will remember that last year in May, I mentioned that three key countries to Zimbabwe's politics privately mentioned through their diplomats that, as far as they were concerned, 2028 was gone, and they were now looking at perhaps 2033 or even beyond to envisage any possibility of a change of government. But as long as Zimbabweans remain fixated on the main actor syndrome and not an opposition movement, they must also accept being stuck in the current political ditch for a long time to come. What does this mean? It means more looting. For the diaspora, it means continuing to send money back home for the foreseeable future. The tragedy is that Zimbabwean citizens continue to look for a hero figure rather than building a durable, collective movement that outlasts individual egos. Until that changes, power will remain concentrated in the hands of whoever seizes the moment, no matter how corrupt or undemocratic they are like Mnangagwa. For foreign diplomats, it simply means accepting that they now must work with the government of the day no matter how corrupt it is, with no hope of any change unless there is a dramatic intervention that puts an end to the current political rot. For General Constantino Chiwenga, it means kissing goodbye to his dream of becoming president. He must now tighten his security and pray that Mnangagwa does not make the un-strategic mistake of firing him because he might not be able to fight back. If he still has an appetite for this job, he has to fight for it by coming out of the shadows, otherwise he will meet the same fate that destroyed Joice Mujuru’s career. Without her husband, she became a nobody, and without the military, Chiwenga will be just another brick in the wall. For 74-year-old war veterans’ leader, former intelligence officer, and former Member of Parliament Blessed “Bombshell” Geza, keep your head up high old man. You did what you could, and history will be kind to you for trying, at great personal cost. Your beautiful home in Sanyati was burnt, your wife harassed, and now you are living in hiding. One would have to be a fool of monumental proportions not to acknowledge your efforts and say thank you for trying. You have contributed to people’s consciousness about how bad corruption has become, and hopefully you will live to see the change that Zimbabwe so desperately needs. Every struggle needs leadership; people cannot lead themselves. The idea that the Arab Spring was leaderless is rooted in ignorance and a lack of understanding of what happened. Without leaders to provide direction and inspiration, citizens cannot move forward on their own. Citizens were given direction and inspiration by Geza, but quite evidently, they felt it was not enough to compel them to make sacrifices, such as simply staying away from work and enduring a little hardship for the greater good and a better future. The dysfunctionality of national leadership in Zimbabwe has been fuelled by money changing hands, shameless ethnic alignments, corruption, and the absence of a shared national vision and values. Put simply, Zimbabweans are not united against the common enemy, corrupt rule. The oversized egos that prioritise individualism over a collective agenda are self-evident, and they are among the key ingredients of today’s failed politics. Sadly, it is the ordinary people and the lumpen who cheer that individualism that will continue to suffer. As Dr Solomon Guramatunhu has always said in my favourite saying of his, politicians are a mirror of who we are as a society. Every society has a leadership it deserves. When the society fundamentally changes, it will change its leadership too. When citizens hero-worship politicians regardless of the mistakes they make, it means such a people deserve those leaders. When citizens demand more, the leaders will also change. For now, Zimbabweans are stuck with Mnangagwa and an elusive opposition that only exists in name and not indeed. I conclude by saying that only something very dramatic will change Zimbabwe’s state of affairs. It could be a military intervention that removes the current corrupt political leadership of Mnangagwa, but ultimately it will also serve the interests of the elites if the citizens are just by-standers, or a dramatic fall from grace for the corrupt if a few of them are arrested beyond the president’s control, leading to the public shedding its fear. At this moment, any change will do, because the country was removed from the gutter in 2017 into the sewer. The question is who has the capacity to bring the required change? Only time will tell.
