He said due to hardware limitations and main programmer Nasir Gebelli not understanding music so well the scale of sounds they could make was limited. In his FF music live talk show he explained what he actually wanted it to sound like. It was made in a rush so they couldn’t check it properly but Uematsu was able to fix it in later versions of the Prelude in the following FF games!
