Just experienced the new slippery weather detection behavior in FSD V14.3 for the first time. If the car detects a potential hydroplaning surface, it will limit the vehicle’s speed for safety. Wow, Mad Max on the Cybertruck is such a great FSD profile. On the highway, it maintains a quick speed above 80 mph and effortlessly moves around traffic. One of my biggest complaints about FSD has been the speed the truck drives on the highway. It loved to keep me at 74 mph and sit in the left lane - causing fast drivers to pass me on the right. 🚨 How to make FSD go above the speed limit, and stick to it! 🚨 Got tired of pressing the accelerator and then have FSD slowing down again Decided to put an idea to the test, and found the solution to the problem 👇🏼 The key word is Delta V. Say you’re driving on 103 actual speed and, depending on the offset, you scroll down the max speed setting to 106 Once you hit that Delta V of 3 kph between actual speed and max speed you feel the car starts accelerating From then onwards you can just keep on scrolling the speed up (not too fast) and it will keep accelerating and stick to your speed setting But once the car loses speed it doesn’t accelerate back up to the set speed again The testing continues…

At 40 mph, FSD V14 was able to come to a complete stop before impact. At 45 mph, it significantly reduced speed but was unable to stop completely before reaching the object. I love you FSD v14.2 - but speed control has to come back soon… or they need to somehow solve misreading speed limits/bad map data. At the end of this clip we are JUST going the speed limit while in mad max. I’ve also had the car think it’s 30 km/h in a 60 km/h zone - in those situations even mad max won’t drive the speed limit and I am forced to use the pedal. This is actually more of a problem now since 14.2 since all of the profiles drive slower than they did in 14.1. I am 100% okay with the slower profiles, but only if the car actually knows the real speed limit.

Testing out Tesla's updated Actually Smart Summon (ASS) in FSD V14.3.3, which has a 33% faster top speed of 8 mph. Handled everything well. The 2 mph higher top speed might seem small, but it does noticeably allow it to flow better with traffic and everything that's going on. Reaction times remain quick, and pullovers continue to be Robotaxi like. (I'm sitting in the backseat of my Model Y in the video below)

I wonder if Tesla crippling of speed control is a silent ploy to make sure people use FSD on surface streets less? Ever since the auto speed control got introduced, even if you disable it, the TACC max speed does nothing on surface streets apparently.

Misread a truck 45 sign as 45 and pay the price.... Driving speed limit (55) in Hurry in the left lane. Car can no longer pass a car it tries to go around since it's limited to +10mph in Hurry. Even Mad Max stuck in low 60s... This is a real bummer to the experience.

Testing FSD 14.3.4 coming into town and it still struggles to slow to correct speed on its own. Speed limits in WI in most towns are 25 MPH. As I come into town speed limit was 45 and it was holding that good. But once I come into town I NEED it to slow correctly to at least 30 so it’s only over by 5 mph If I don’t I will get pulled over. Cops sit at the edge of town. Just waiting to catch you. I tried it again tonight and still does not slow on its own. I usually just switch the speed profile to chill and it immediately slows and I’m good. I can switch it back to standard and it holds at about 5 over. Why can’t FSD just do this on its own? Once unsupervised is here this must be correct. I know FSD is work in progress but this is one of the pain points many of us struggle with. The signs are clearly marked. It even has slow down ahead signs. FSD needs to do its job correctly. I love FSD and I know they will get this but just wanted to highlight the importance of this. Until then I’ll just use the quick change profile trick. 🤙🏼 Tesla AI
