Today in Lagos State, yet again, we witnessed an ugly but all-too-familiar scene: thugs allegedly sponsored and elements of the police working not to protect the people, but to intimidate, harass, and silence them. During GRV’s event, what should have been a peaceful democratic gathering turned into a targeted attempt to suppress free expression and political participation. Yet, in the face of fear and violence, brave Nigerians stood tall. We are immensely proud of those citizens who acted with courage and unity to protect one another and ensure GRV and his supporters were escorted to safety. This is the spirit of true democracy the will of the people refusing to be broken. But we must say this clearly and without apology: the use of violence, intimidation, and state-backed thuggery to undermine political opposition is a stain on Lagos State’s democratic record. This same pattern played out during the last elections, where voters were attacked, threatened, and in some cases injured simply for supporting the candidate of their choice. These are not isolated incidents they are part of a shameful strategy of political suppression that must be condemned by all lovers of democracy. Enough is enough.

UPDATE: This is London, England right now. This is a massive rally for the Palestinian people. I'm Jewish. I support Israel's right to exist and right to live without fear of a terrorist attack like last weekend. With that said, I also support the rights of these people, who use their voice in a non-violent way, to express themselves. I may disagree with many of the things they say, but peaceful assembly and protest is not bad. Violent assembly, the calling for death or calling for the destruction of a group of people is another story. We must all recognize the difference. Palestinians protesting = OK Hamas purposefully killing civilians = NOT OK Palestinians calling for violence = NOT OK.

Sunnis are not spared. 🇸🇾 On June 14, local clashes broke out in various towns in Idlib and Aleppo, during which “regime elements” were lynched in response to the lack of justice from the new Syrian authorities. While it is true that some of those killed were involved in crimes during the previous political regime, the STG’s supporters are using the demand for justice as an excuse to intensify the constant wave of hatred—no longer directed solely against minorities, but also against Sunni citizens who do not support the new authorities in Damascus, who have been killed with impunity in recent hours.

Today was a hard day for us. It began at the Tbilisi City Court, where nine political prisoners were sentenced. One, Anton Chechini, received 8 years and 6 months. The other eight received either 2 years or 2 years and 6 months. As if that weren’t enough, regime police attacked supporters of the political prisoners inside the court. That was our horrible morning, gifted by the regime. It didn’t end there. After court, Tea Tsulukiani and her illegitimate commission again blamed Georgia for starting the 2008 war and for “bombing our own people.” This has been Georgian Dream’s rhetoric since 2012, and now they are saying it officially. It’s clear this will be used to arrest more people on criminal charges, just as they did at the beginning of this illegitimate commission. Naturally, pro-European protesters gathered at the Parliament to oppose everything Georgian Dream is doing to destroy Georgia’s future. The regime’s response was brutal. To hide the political prisoners’ hearings and the commission’s result, they launched terror and violence against peaceful protesters. First came a siege: police kettled us and tried to stop all movement. Protesters managed to break the siege and, in response, blocked Rustaveli Avenue, something we have done for more than 278 days, and again today, on day 279 of protest. The violence continued: police pursued people and carried out violent arrests. 23 activists were detained, including students. During this period, the regime also targeted the Iliauni Students Movement (ERA) High-ranking officials issued attacks and abusive statements against movement's members, and even went after Germany’s ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer (Peter Fischer) The protest continues. Politicians will always be politicians This is why I am not easily moved by mumu outrage online. Peter Obi says he is visiting victims of last year's Yelwata massacre. His whole body is campaign billboard of NDC. And he was moving with a battalion of press people. But he says it's not political. 😂 Obi has not visited Lilu Community or Azia or Orsumoghu, all in Anambra State, his home state. They have all experienced the horror of insecurity in the hands of IPOB (never mind that Obi said IPOB have not done anything wrong). You won't see Obi in Oru in Imo State or even ordinary Ihiala or Mgbidi. So, while I condemn every form of violence against people, it is also necessary that politicians like Obi tone down the hypocrisy and desperation to milk the misfortune of communities for political gains so as not to attract this type of political response from people who understand the game. Obi obviously has been looking for a scene of tragedy to visit and "console" but since there is no new massacre and that the intensity of insecurity has been ebbing considerably over the past two months, he decides to return to Yelwata, Benue for photo ops. Iran launches symbolic missile attack against Israel, which retaliates strongly After Iran launched a symbolic attack against Israel in protest against the attacks on Beirut, hours later it was Israel's turn to retaliate, this time indeed with violence and hitting more than 10 targets in Iran, including Tehran airport and Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, Kermanshah, Karaj, and some other areas in western Iran. The White House said the US had no part in the attack; however, strangely, American tanker planes were seen in the air. Refueling whom? It wasn't my motorcycle. There are two questions at this moment: One is that since the Iranian retaliation did not hit targets in Israel in a significant way, it is very likely that Iran still has a serious problem with the refurbishment and upgrade of its long-range missiles. And the other is that perhaps the US has not only reinstated THAAD radars and others but also added more batteries brought from Asia that were positioned in advance in the corridors. Be that as it may, the current situation forces Iran to retaliate and show that it possesses real means of inflicting damage on Israel. There will be no ceasefire in Lebanon in the way Iran desires, simply because Israel saw the quantity of missiles that Hezbollah accumulated in a short period of time and will not allow that again. Israel has its own agenda, its own interests, and they are completely antagonistic to the peace plan that has been discussed. Trump is trying to save his political skin, but Netanyahu will impose his agenda and Trump will be dragged along by it. But while Trump isn't dragged along, Iran seems to be wanting to settle scores with Israel, launching a new wave of missiles along with Yemen, which, by all accounts, has also decided to launch missiles against Israel. In conversation with some comrades a few weeks ago, we reflected on how the painful contradiction with those who use hate and violence against foreign nationals, in order to mobilise popular support, extort money or pursue votes, is that they are bound to commit an inhumane act towards their own self-destruction. All of them, their downfall is the inhumanity of what they do, because at the core of what they are doing, is cruelty and inhumanity, and it is then when they will know that South African people are not hateful people. In 2008 it was the burning and necklacing of foreign nationals in painful images. In early 2021 it was the raiding of homes of innocent people like Ntate Victor Ramarafe in Dobsonville, or the extortion of foreign nationals who were legal in Alexandra, otherwise they were evicted from their homes. In Diepsloot it was killing of people like Elvis Nyathi and burning him alive after stealing money from his wife. More recently it was the blocking of women and children at the gates of schools and clinics in Soweto, the birth of children at gates of clinics in Tshwane and the stopping of South Africans from healthcare because they could not readily produce an ID. People are now looting food in their names, men are beating women in hair salons all in a build-up of a hostel-centric hate groups’ activities. The more human rights atrocities they commit, the quicker they engineer their self-destruction, because South Africans have an irrefutable instinct to be human. South African people cannot reconcile their hearts with violence being committed against innocent human beings, and this is the lesson these hate groups will learn. The toxicity of Twitter is not reality, no South African mother will support a woman giving birth on a pavement because they don’t have a passport. No man or woman will cheer as a human being burns alive because they could not say elbow in Nguni. No sane South African will support looting of shops of the food that YOU claimed was poisonous, leaving them with no close and readily available access to food. There is a reason why political parties who campaign on violence against foreign nationals collectively and combined cannot surpass 5% in a national vote - South African people inherently are not monsters. It is just sad that the self-destruction of these hate groups, first requires tragedy and casualties, but it is alway inevitable.

All of them, their downfall is the inhumanity of what they do, because at the core of what they are doing, is cruelty and inhumanity, and it is then when they will know that South African people are not hateful people. In 2008 it was the burning and necklacing of foreign nationals in painful images. In early 2021 it was the raiding of homes of innocent people like Ntate Victor Ramarafe in Dobsonville, or the extortion of foreign nationals who were legal in Alexandra, otherwise they were evicted from their homes. In Diepsloot it was killing of people like Elvis Nyathi and burning him alive after stealing money from his wife. More recently it was the blocking of women and children at the gates of schools and clinics in Soweto, the birth of children at gates of clinics in Tshwane and the stopping of South Africans from healthcare because they could not readily produce an ID. People are now looting food in their names, men are beating women in hair salons all in a build-up of a hostel-centric hate groups’ activities. The more human rights atrocities they commit, the quicker they engineer their self-destruction, because South Africans have an irrefutable instinct to be human. South African people cannot reconcile their hearts with violence being committed against innocent human beings, and this is the lesson these hate groups will learn. The toxicity of Twitter is not reality, no South African mother will support a woman giving birth on a pavement because they don’t have a passport. No man or woman will cheer as a human being burns alive because they could not say elbow in Nguni. No sane South African will support looting of shops of the food that YOU claimed was poisonous, leaving them with no close and readily available access to food. There is a reason why political parties who campaign on violence against foreign nationals collectively and combined cannot surpass 5% in a national vote - South African people inherently are not monsters. It is just sad that the self-destruction of these hate groups, first requires tragedy and casualties, but it is alway inevitable.
