Huge columns of smoke rose over the city of Baneh this morning after a base belonging to the IRGC was destroyed. Strikes also hit across the border in Iraqi Kurdistan on Wednesday. Last month, five groups, including the PDKI and PAK, announced a political coalition to seek the overthrow of the Iranian government and ultimately secure Kurdish self-determination. Before the execution of the prominent Kurdish political leader, Qazi Muhammad, by the father of Reza Pahlavi, he was asked to renounce his belief in the rights of the Kurdish people and their right to freedom. According to his wife, Mina Qazi, who recounts his words, he responded: “I am willing to sacrifice my blood and my life, as long as the Kurds and Kurdistan are free.” He was subsequently executed by Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. He is not the first Kurdish leader to be executed by Pahlavi dynasty, and therefore its dystopia to think Kurdistan has forgotten the atrocities committed by his father whom Reza Pahlavi praises today.
