🎿❄️ SERIOUS Mountain Snow incoming for the Cascades and Sierra Nevada and skiers are about to be VERY happy. Up to 8 FEET or more of snow could fall in just a few days, creating extremely dangerous travel at higher elevations, especially through mountain passes. Strong winds will make conditions even worse, with gusts possibly reaching 70 mph, leading to near-zero visibility at times. I wouldn’t be surprised if some ski resorts temporarily close due to too much snow, especially around Lake Tahoe, where the biggest totals are expected. I’ve been there before. At least someone is getting a White Christmas 🎄❄️

❄️UP TO 70 INCHES of PURE POWDER has already fallen in the Sierra Nevada, with another 1–2 feet of Snow still to come today. Snow has been absolutely PUKING over the last 24 hours, with near-constant rates of 1–2 inches per hour. More than 2 FEET has fallen in just the past day alone. Truly unreal. Ski resorts have been getting CRUSHED. Here are some of the biggest 24-hour totals: ❄️ Sugar Bowl Resort: 30" ❄️ Mammoth Mountain: 24" ❄️ Bear Valley: 24" ❄️ NorthStar California: 23" ❄️ Lake Tahoe: 21" Many resorts are temporarily closed due to extreme snow and wind, but once things reopen… it’s going to be an absolute gold rush to the mountains for this fresh powder. 🚗I would still avoid Traveling today in the mountains if you can. Its going to be awhile until the Roads are passible in many areas. Skiers, this is what dreams are made of ❄️🎿

In a warmer climate, snow levels rise and snow pack decreases by a HUGE amount. Why? Think about the difference in width of the mountain base vs peak. The drop in snow pack area is huge. (This is an idealized graphic, numbers are only to help explain). The result is this… 🧵 1/

🚨 An absolutely LUDICROUS amount of Snow is about to fall out West as a TRAIN of Storms pushes onshore. ❌This comes as our West Coast brotheren have been dealing with RECORD low Snowpack, with many ski resorts forced to close parts of their mountains due to a lack of Snow. That is ALL about to change next week as an Atmospheric River delivers a near constant FEED of moisture into the West. ❄️ The heaviest Snow remains on track to fall in the Sierra Nevada, where 4 to 8 FEET or more could pile up early this week. 🏔️ Heavy Snow will also dump into the Rockies, including Colorado and Utah. Here, 1 Foot or more could fall over several days. 🌲 The Cascades will see PLENTY of Snow as well, with 1 to 2 FEET likely in the higher elevations. 🌧️ Lower elevations along the West Coast, including Seattle, could see a few Snow Flakes mix in, but little to no accumulation is expected. ✅This is FANTASTIC news for our mountain loving brotheren out West who have been DYING for Snow. It will also do wonders for the California and Rocky Mountain Snowpack, which desperately needs the boost. 👊 Enjoy the Snow, my mountain loving brotheren.

Rachel Maddow is oddly obsessed. She's now suggesting I should cancel a full day of events with constituents (that took months of planning) in order to accept a last-minute invitation from an extreme partisan group. Specifically, she'd have me cancel on: Big Brothers Big Sisters, South Tahoe High School, the South Tahoe Airport, the South Tahoe Chamber, Carson Mill, South Tahoe Community College, South Tahoe Public Utilities District, Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, North Tahoe Public Utilities District, the League to Save Lake Tahoe, County Supervisors, and City Council Members. Many of these individuals and groups I worked closely with in getting the landmark Lake Tahoe Restoration Reauthorization Act signed into law last year. This legislation authorized $415 million in federal funding for the Tahoe basin over the next decade, including $150 million for fire prevention. Since Ms. Maddow is featuring me on her program every evening, I'd be happy to appear for a discussion of why she thinks this is less important than participating in rallies by far-left partisan organizations.

⚠️A VERY ACTIVE Weather Pattern is setting up next week, bringing MULTIPLE chances for major Winter Storms to sweep through the US. 🥶👊🔥This setup features a BATTLEGROUND of Warm Tropical Air clashing with Frigid Polar Air, creating an environment that is ripe for Winter Storm development. ❓Specific storm details are still VERY much up in the air, and we should not treat any single model run as gospel at this point. I'm only showing this GFS run as an example. 🌨️ The key takeaway is that the pattern is right, and Heavy Snow, Ice, and Wind are all on the table somewhere across the country. ❄️ Hang in there, my US Snow brotheren. More details to come....

In the snow-covered mountains, a group of horses became trapped after a severe spring snow storm buried the fields and cut off their access to food. With the roads blocked and no safe way to reach them by land, rescuers used a helicopter to fly over the frozen valley and drop bales of hay from above. One by one, the hungry horses moved through the snow toward the scattered food, finally getting the help they needed to survive.

❄️An OBSCENE amount of Snow is about to DUMP in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, with the heaviest still to come. Over 72 inches of snow could fall on Christmas Day alone. An almost nonstop stream of Pacific moisture will continue for the next 48 hours as an atmospheric river remains locked in. 🗻Some Mountain locations have already picked up 1–2 feet, with snow falling at 1–3 inches per hour at times. 🚗Travel in the mountains will remain difficult to impossible as heavy snow and strong winds create near blizzard conditions. 🎅When people asked for a White Christmas… this might be too much of a good thing. Merry Christmas, everybody🎄❄️

Storm of the century: the US paralyzed by winter storm Fern A vast part of the United States has been hit by one of the most powerful winter storms in the past 100 years. Blizzards, heavy snow and freezing rain have forced the cancellation of more than 13,000 flights nationwide. The severe weather is expected to last for several days, according to Reuters and the Associated Press. By the evening of January 24, more than 139,000 customers were left without electricity — and the number continues to rise. The hardest-hit states are Texas and Louisiana. In New York City, the bodies of three people who died from exposure were found on the streets — two men aged 67 and about 30, and an elderly woman. President Donald Trump approved a federal state of emergency in 12 states — from South Carolina to West Virginia — and urged Americans to “stay safe and warm.”

❄️ SNOWFALL REPORT: Week of 1/18 – 1/25 ❄️ This is a another BIG one. A HIGH IMPACT Winter Storm could develop late this upcoming week, with the potential to bring Heavy Snow and Ice to parts of the country. 🌨️ The heaviest Snow will likely fall on the north side of this storm Friday - Sunday, wherever it ultimately tracks. As we move through the week, I would not be surprised to see Winter Storm Watches and Warnings issued as it becomes more clear where this storm will setup. ❄️When it comes to exact locations and Snow totals, we are still WAY too far out to pin that down. That said, the most likely SNOW ZONE appears to be somewhere within the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys, though this will almost certainly shift as we get closer. ❄️Elsewhere, the Midwest will see a few rounds of light to moderate Snow Monday through Wednesday as a series of Alberta Clippers pass through. These should be minor systems, generally producing a few inches. ❄️ Boston, NYC, and parts of the Northeast will start the week with a healthy dose of Snow, with 4-5 inches possible by Monday morning. 🏔️ Out West, the Rocky Mountains from Colorado through Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho should pick up significant Mountain Snow, with over a foot possible in higher elevations. 🏔️The Cascades in Washington and Oregon will also see Snowfall, with a few feet possible in favored areas. ❄️The MAIN THING to remember this week: whoever gets hit by the late week Winter Storm could get A LOT of Snow, but there will also be plenty of busts nearby. That’s the nature of these storms. 👀 I’ll be watching this late week storm LIKE A HAWK 🦅and will post updated maps as details become clearer. ❄️ Get ready, my brotheren. This is shaping up to be an exciting week of weather tracking. May the odds of Snow be ever in your favor

Reports of fake 'plastic' Snow Falling in the USA, what is going on here? There are also many videos of people trying to light snow up on fire, and it's not melting as it should, its burning. Can we have people test this for us that live in the USA?

I've uncovered a bit more about FSD V14's behavior in the snow. FSD has an invisible & binary "Snow Mode" where it shifts in and out of a different profile upon detection of snow-covered roads. Snow Mode is either ON or OFF. It does not appear to be a gradient based on condition severity. Example: In the video below, you can see tiny bits of snow drifting across the highway surface. Before this snow appeared, FSD drove normally (at the speed limit or above). When it saw this snow, it instantly slowed to 10-15mph under the speed limit. Then, when the snow cleared, it sped back up. It did this multiple times over a 10 mile drive: >Drive Normally >Detect Snow >Enter Snow Mode >Slow Down >Snow is gone >Exit Snow Mode >Drive Normally In this particular instance driving between various conditions, Snow Mode was unnecessary for this type of snow drifting. Pressing the accelerator or increasing the speed profile does NOT override Snow Mode. Elon said last year they may need to create different versions of FSD for different regions, driving types, and weather (Deep snow vs. Manhattan, etc). This may be our first look at that separated version of FSD that is activated under a certain condition!
