When I see the babies in their blankies, I think of those tied fringe fleece blankets that were such a popular craft and gift a few years back. People were so eager to show love for babies, teammates, friends that the demand for fleece surged and got really expensive! 🤣

Losoito is five years old at our Voi Reintegration Unit and still on bottles – up to 24 litres of specially formulated milk a day, fed every three hours, day and night. Keeper Walter has been with her for nearly every feed. Why? Well, bottles of milk serve several purposes beyond providing nutrients; they also offer comfort and time to bond with their caregivers. Despite being fortified, the formula we give can also never be considered a 100% perfect match. So we tend to find orphans remain milk dependent for longer than they might in the wild, taking advantage of the comfort bottles bring.
