The governor, Mohamed Aden Khalif, has been reported to own multiple properties in Nairobi. So a simple question must be asked, where is the money meant for schools and children going? I have been following the events in Makueni where an MP from Mandera flawed made remarks that should genuinely concern anyone who cares about Northern Kenya. (video below) He claimed that no MPs or governors have looted money from the North Eastern region. Yet in the same breath, he donated KSh300,000 in cash at a public event, while people in Mandera are facing hunger, starvation, and the county itself is fundraising for relief. He went on to allege that Rigathi Gachagua said North Eastern should use NG-CDF to build roads. That is false. The question raised was why NG-CDF is not being used to build classrooms, as is done in other counties. He then blamed poverty in North Eastern on Jomo Kenyatta, Moi, Kibaki, and Uhuru, claiming resources were taken to Mt Kenya. This ignores a fundamental reality: the 2010 Constitution guarantees all counties resources, and North Eastern counties actually receive more than many others. If devolution works in Kakamega and Kisii, why is North Eastern still stuck? Just yesterday, a governor from the region failed to explain before the Senate how KSh13 million was spent on vehicle repairs, KSh55 million on seeds, and over KSh300 million on relief food. This is the tragedy. Instead of acknowledging failures and fixing them, some leaders choose denial and misdirection. Ten years from now, they will still be blaming the rest of Kenya, unless the people demand honesty and accountability now. Poverty survives where accountability is postponed.

This is the tragedy. Instead of acknowledging failures and fixing them, some leaders choose denial and misdirection. Ten years from now, they will still be blaming the rest of Kenya, unless the people demand honesty and accountability now. Poverty survives where accountability is postponed.

MANDERA COUNTY GOVERNMENT SHAME! December 2025. Banissa town. Subcounty Hqtrs. It's surface water pan, currently the only source of water to the subcounty hqs, in pathetic condition. 62 years after independence. 13 years into devolution. After Sh 150 billion spent by the County Government. And sh 6 billion allocated to water in the past 3 years of this clueless, pityless county administration. And in the backyard of the current Governor! The least they are asking for is the protection of the pan so that there is no contamination. It's not asking too much. This week, he’s spending millions to move the Jamhuri Day celebrations from County Headquarters Mandera town to Elwak town to massage his ego. In the past month, he reportedly paid 20 bloggers sh 100K each to highlight his reports marking 3 years in office. Sadly, a fraction of this money would secure this water pan from pollution. A few months ago, a borehole was drilled 4 kms away. The priority should be to equip it & pipe the water to the town. When priorities are misplaced, our folks suffer and the dudes in office don’t feel it. Waa musiibaqutayaal! . May Allah ease the hardships of our folks.
