Mandera power outage: KPLC outrage! Mandera residents today held a demonstration to protest lack of electricity after KPLC power plant collapsed once again, plunging the town into darkness. For several months now, there has been no stable power in the town of 200,000 people. Businesses, hotels, hospitals, etc all adversely affected. Residents have resorted to buying iceblocks from across the border in Somalia. KPLC recently installed 2 new generators just before William Samoei Ruto, PhD tour. Power disappeared shortly after he left. 60 yrs after independence, Mandera, like Wajir, is not yet connected to the national grid. Worse, KPLC cannot maintain the standalone generators. It's a company heavily subsidized by the Government. A big shame. The Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc. Is a criminal enterprise & the power outage in Mandera could be a sabotage. The leadership of The Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc._Care has failed to serve Mandera. It is inconceivable that the County administration & all the MPscan sit pretty when the headquarters is in darkness. It's not about functions. The Governor should walk into State House Kenya & demand this critical service for the people of Mandera. Or concession it to the private sector! Aibu!

I’ve just been tagged in a video showing the state of Gedalo Primary School in Mandera. This is not politics. This is about dignity. Mandera receives millions in county funds and NG-CDF every year. The governor, Mohamed Aden Khalif, has been reported to own multiple properties in Nairobi. So a simple question must be asked, where is the money meant for schools and children going? Leadership is not measured by wealth accumulated, but by lives improved. The people of Mandera deserve answers. And ultimately, they deserve leadership that puts children first.

Mandera County Government: It's sad to see poor women who carry out sanitation and environment work in Mandera town complain about non-payment of their stipends for five months. This is unacceptable. A shame on the conscience of the administration. Their pay is meagre & can be paid at the time it is due. County bosses are apparently in Holland to receive a prize for urban greening, made possible by these poor women!

Mandera County is under siege. Jubaland forces from Somalia have crossed into Kenyan territory and are terrorizing our people, yet the CS for Interior continues to deny their presence. Even the President himself has chosen inaction, appearing too weak to defend the sovereignty of our nation. The Governor of Mandera has pleaded with the Commander-in-Chief to act, but instead, it seems Mr. Ruto is deliberately working to destabilize this country. A government that cannot protect its borders or its citizens has no moral right to call itself a government of the people.

Ikolomani has 56,299 registered voters. Half of that is 23,150. There isn’t a single constituency in Northern Kenya with fewer voters than that imaginary number. Wajir South has 58,057. Garissa Township — 53,253. Mandera East — 48,219. Mandera North — 45,216. Should I go on? Or should we let the doctor put down whatever he’s smoking and pick up the IEBC register? Mandera town: These poor women in Bulla China in Mandera are complaining about being harassed & threatened with eviction by the county administration. It's a shame that they couldn't get audience from the Governor & are now forced to appeal to him through the media. Ali ibn Abi Talib ( RA) said: "It's the duty of the governor to shield the poor, the indigent & the helpless who have none to patronise, and safeguard their rights so that you are not obliged to give an excuse before God on the Day of Judgment. Last night in the Netherlands, Mandera Municipality was honored with the globally coveted Green City Award by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH). This esteemed international body is dedicated to promoting sustainable horticulture and supports initiatives that enhance the green environment through global greening projects and sustainable production practices. The greening initiative in Mandera began in 2015 under my leadership as County Governor. At the time, many doubted the potential for success, but Alhamdulillah, our efforts have been recognized on a global scale. I am proud to dedicate this award to the 1,300 vulnerable mothers in Mandera Town who have journeyed with us, demonstrating unparalleled commitment to the greening of our town. These mothers, who not only contribute to mitigating climate change but also make a livelihood from it, deserve our heartfelt applause. I also wish to extend my gratitude to the residents of Mandera Town who embraced and doubled our greening efforts by planting trees in every homestead, creating a true community-driven environmental transformation. He decried the trend in NE Kenya counties where the resources & administration is centralized in the county headquarters, and mostly in the office of the Governor. Sadly the subcounties exist only in name. The County Government Act has clear provisions on how the county is to be managed but is ignored. Residents expect better.

Mandera Governor akarangwa kwa mafuta yake! Sh 55.9 million on seedlings? My hometown of Rhamu on River Dawa with 22,000 Ha of farmland doesn't enjoy free inputs from the County administration. The same County that purports to supply free seedlings charge sh 6,000 per hour for the only plough tractor they have in the subcounty. If they only supported the farmers along River Dawa with inputs, we won't be on famine relief on which they reportedly spent sh 359 million. Akili ni mali!

ON FALSEHOODS PEDDLED BY MR. GACHAGUA It has come to our attention that Mr. Rigathi Gachagua has once again chosen to recklessly peddle blatant falsehoods in a desperate attempt to mislead the public for cheap political mileage. 1. FALSE CLAIM: That the President met “other people” during his visit to Mandera This claim is not just false it is a calculated, malevolent lie. As a leader who personally accompanied H.E. President William Ruto from the moment he landed in Mandera to the moment he departed, I affirm without fear of contradiction that the President only met officially recognized Mandera leaders and the public in open forums. Every aspect of the President’s one-day itinerary was transparent and in the public domain. No private, backdoor, or suspicious meetings took place. The suggestion by Mr. Gachagua that the President met with unknown individuals is a shameful fabrication designed to sow division and confusion among the people. It is deeply unfortunate that a man who once postured as a symbol of truth has now reduced himself to a serial purveyor of falsehoods, unable to recall the last time he spoke the truth. Such conduct is not only disgraceful it is dangerous, especially when deployed to distort presidential engagements with historically marginalized communities. 2. FALSE CLAIM: That security vetting for Northern Kenya has been removed Mr. Gachagua’s assertion that the government has removed vetting is yet another deliberate distortion of facts. What President Ruto stated clearly in Mandera is that the discriminatory and excessive bureaucratic vetting that has for years been selectively imposed on communities in the Northern Frontier District (NFD) must end. The President emphasized that all Kenyans must be subjected to one uniform standard of vetting fair, consistent, and constitutional without stigmatization based on region or ethnicity. To twist this clear and just position into a false narrative of national insecurity is reckless, dishonest, and deeply disrespectful to the people of Northern Kenya who have suffered decades of systemic exclusion and profiling. The American Government must not fall for the dilutions and desperations for attention and favours using fabricated lies from Mr. Gachagua. DCI must do its job. We need to follow on these success stories, visit them, make Duas for them, empower them. MANDERA TEA SESSION! I had a long tea session today with Mandera’s Professor of Politics (Baba ya siasa ya Mandera), Hon A.M.Noor. 42 years in politics. 30 years in Parliament. He had come back to the city from attending to his cows. I briefed him on what’s been going on while he was away…along the famous lines that Japheth Moroko did when Raila returned from his long US trip in 2018 (see clip below). And I told him… Baba while you were away: National level, that Somali-diid known as Gachagua, was bundled out of power, and replaced by a ‘corner-tribe’ from Mt Kenya! Mandera, UDM ‘Korbees’ administration, behaving like fattened calves in a green pasture, invaded my space & I beat them back with B52. Kijibtole! 3.The ‘Korbeyi’ do not want us elders to take tea & chat about our county; ati sisi ni ‘dulood ufin gugurdaa’. But I promised we would take more tea! 4.I reported the unbecoming behaviour of the ‘Korbeyi’ to their UDM Supremo & told him to keep them in their lane 5.The people of Fino issued a ‘Certificate of Endorsement for 2027’ but our ‘Dulach’ friend Hon Shaban refused to put his name to it! 6.Hon Weytan, in anger, likened the county Governor position to that of the Chairman of County Council, with ‘maringo ya pesa’! 7.We learnt that the Korbees administration spent sh 23.5 billion in the first 2 years! I have been following the events in Makueni where an MP from Mandera flawed made remarks that should genuinely concern anyone who cares about Northern Kenya. (video below) He claimed that no MPs or governors have looted money from the North Eastern region. Yet in the same breath, he donated KSh300,000 in cash at a public event, while people in Mandera are facing hunger, starvation, and the county itself is fundraising for relief. He went on to allege that Rigathi Gachagua said North Eastern should use NG-CDF to build roads. That is false. The question raised was why NG-CDF is not being used to build classrooms, as is done in other counties. He then blamed poverty in North Eastern on Jomo Kenyatta, Moi, Kibaki, and Uhuru, claiming resources were taken to Mt Kenya. This ignores a fundamental reality: the 2010 Constitution guarantees all counties resources, and North Eastern counties actually receive more than many others. If devolution works in Kakamega and Kisii, why is North Eastern still stuck? Just yesterday, a governor from the region failed to explain before the Senate how KSh13 million was spent on vehicle repairs, KSh55 million on seeds, and over KSh300 million on relief food. This is the tragedy. Instead of acknowledging failures and fixing them, some leaders choose denial and misdirection. Ten years from now, they will still be blaming the rest of Kenya, unless the people demand honesty and accountability now. Poverty survives where accountability is postponed.

This ignores a fundamental reality: the 2010 Constitution guarantees all counties resources, and North Eastern counties actually receive more than many others. If devolution works in Kakamega and Kisii, why is North Eastern still stuck? Just yesterday, a governor from the region failed to explain before the Senate how KSh13 million was spent on vehicle repairs, KSh55 million on seeds, and over KSh300 million on relief food. This is the tragedy. Instead of acknowledging failures and fixing them, some leaders choose denial and misdirection. Ten years from now, they will still be blaming the rest of Kenya, unless the people demand honesty and accountability now. Poverty survives where accountability is postponed.
