Kitten update #41: I learned a lot about the fundamental biological differences between boys and girls from my dogs. The kittens seem a little less dimorphic; I don't know if that will change as they grow but the differences between the boys and the girls seem way less pronounced.... Maybe some of that is differences in the way they relate to us; like if girl dogs are generally more attentive, eager to please, and easier to train than boy dogs, maybe cats have some of the same differences but we don't notice because no cat is easy to train. Who knows about sex-based differences in cats and wants to educate me? Anyway, one thing that seems to be a universal constant is the way brothers are when they want attention right as you're getting into that perfect nap bliss state.show more

I hold the Enoch Powell view of ethnicity. I make no moral judgement on the basis of ethnicity nor do I wish any man well or ill based on his ethnicity. In fact, I deeply admire many other cultures and their customs. But that doesn’t mean I want those cultures and customs on the streets of England. Mosley spoke about the mosaic of the world. A beautiful diverse world of different cultures, languages, ethnicities, etc. He talked about the need to avoid becoming a world of grey in which every country looks, sounds, and feels the same. True global diversity is achieved through separation. Wouldn’t it be awful to travel from England to America to China to India and not be able to enjoy the differences between them. This couple is having a wedding that will reflect who they are. They openly don’t seem to care if anyone will actually go or not. I think weddings are a celebration for everyone to join in for a special day. But I also think that offending guests before they even go might be a decision that will turn in a decision full of regret. So here’s my take on this. The way I see it is that they are going to be disappointed. I know others might argue and say that it’s selfish for the guests to not go because of the conditions set forth by the bride and groom, however it goes both ways. If they know guests won’t like the conditions of the wedding, then maybe they should compromise a little. I think they should give people options. I feel that this is going to show the bride and groom who is actually their real friends and who aren’t in their eyes. They won’t care if the guests don’t like the wedding rules, they are going to expect them to go because they think that their attendance shows that they care and that they are local.

I have seen a few videos of dogs with possible cerebellar hypoplasia going viral recently. They are portrayed as being normal healthy dogs that are just "happy", when in reality they are disabled. These dogs ARE cute and worthy of love, but we shouldn't be misleading the public that these are normal dogs. Society already struggles to read and understand dog behaviour accurately as it is. I see so many examples of people misunderstanding dog behaviour, in my clinical practice and in comments to videos online. Misunderstanding dog behaviour might seem harmless to most people, but in reality it leads to unhappy dogs. I go into this in detail in my book, humans misreading dog behaviour means they are misunderstood. This is a real problem with dogs that are suffering from mental health conditions like severe anxiety. And if you nurture them and give them the right environment to flourish, then they can really become anything. And I think that's a very important thing to realize the more that you get older, because it's really easy to limit yourself and limit others and be like, oh no, that's just the way they are. They will never change and, you know, I shouldn't even try to get them to change because that's just how they are and they're gonna stay like that forever. Because that, I feel like kind of makes it really easy for you to get really apathetic and not really care about things that maybe we should be caring about, like helping each other grow as people and, you know, trusting humanity.

Another week, another attempt by woke academics to push sex pseudoscience. In my video, I explain why a new paper in Neurotoxicology claiming that "sex is a spectrum," a "mosaic of factors," and a "conglomeration of variables" isn't just wrong, but totally self-refuting. It tries to argue that the term "sex differences" is an "underdefined generalization that creates a distinct binary" when sex is actually a "spectrum." So instead of saying "sex differences," the authors propose a new term: "Sex-Associated Variables," or SAVs. These SAVs, according to the authors, include morphological, genetic, and endocrine factors. The authors state that "The use of SAVs allows for a more nuanced analysis of potential sex differences by using several different sex related characteristics as a defined variable that can be correlated with outcomes, rather than a reductive category." But ask yourself this: How do the authors know which variables are "associated" with being male or female without knowing what males and females are independently of these SAVs? The entire point of the paper is to deny a gamete-based view of sex on grounds that it is overly "reductive" and fails to capture the complexity of sex differences. But the authors are totally oblivious (or at least willfully ignorant) to the fact that their ability to assign SAVs to a particular sex, not just in humans but in non-human animals as well, necessarily presupposes the validity of the gamete-based view of sex. But ask yourself this: How do the authors know which variables are "associated" with being male or female without knowing what males and females are independently of these SAVs? The entire point of the paper is to deny a gamete-based view of sex on grounds that it is overly "reductive" and fails to capture the complexity of sex differences. But the authors are totally oblivious (or at least willfully ignorant) to the fact that their ability to assign SAVs to a particular sex, not just in humans but in non-human animals as well, necessarily presupposes the validity of the gamete-based view of sex.
