Mechanic may have called me a vagina and insinuated that sentiment analysis is irrelevant for what happens with BIP-110... but he's wrong. I shared this data not because I'm looking to spark controversy, but because there is a lot of Bitcoin at stake here and emotion can cause people to make poor decisions. This is only amplified when we all live inside of our own little algorithmic bubbles. Which is why this kind of analysis actually CAN give us clarity about what will happen on August 8th through a more human/social lens. TLDR for people that didn't read the piece is that BIP-110 supporters are broadly: 1) Getting angrier and more disapproving the further this debate rages on. 2) Talking with more hedging language, compared to those against BIP-110 who are growing more convicted. 3) Being fed higher rates of BIP-110 content by the algorithm, causing the debate to appear to have a larger mindshare then it actually does. 4) Getting LESS excited the closer we get to the activation date (which was probably the most unexpected and counterintuitive finding IMO). Again, I wish everyone the best as this debate rages on, but calling me names isn't going to stop me from sharing my findings ✌️

Centralized #Bitcoin miners will always follow the path of least resistance. If the State tells them to do something they are going to do it. They don't want to be responsible for leading Bitcoin because they have executives, board members, and investors who can be held to some account if a State does not like what they are doing. An appropriately functioning network of decentralized nodes provides both leadership to the miners as well as cover from the encroachment of the State. If the miners are doing something the State doesn't like then they can pass the buck to the bitcoiners who run nodes that set and enforce the rules of the network. However, if bitcoiners defer their responsibilities to the top 5 mining nodes then they have essentially surrendered the network to the State. In August, the path of least resistance for the miners will be to flip the bit and activate BIP110. You can help provide the leadership that gets them to do what they need to do by running BIP110 on your node and putting some hash behind it. Learn why and how here: &
