Launching Copper, a Mac app for capturing things you want to keep and prompts you want to try next while working with AI. The more I use AI, the more I find myself collecting little things I don't want to lose. You're in ChatGPT and think, "I'll need this...

Is this my idea? Even the logo looks like same and I need to scroll X to find it? All opensource, it has rough edge but you can fork to make it suit u.

AI was supposed to make us smarter… instead we’re paying $39 just to remember what we asked it 4 minutes ago

Great launch; a couple of things that can be useful: 1. Ability to export or open the thing in some text editor(possibly exists; didn't see on the video) 2. Drag-and-drop? Pin the ones you know you will need sooner than others 3. Linux🥲 4. More about UX - how does it feel when you have like 40-100 notes? do you scroll/search/cross out not needed. Really like the idea and execution @shadcn 😍

1. You can multi-select and cmd + c. It will copy all as one text you can paste into your notes. 2. It's there. Click and drag to sort. 3. Let's see. 4. I did a lot of testing here with lots of notes. Works well. For organization however, use `# Name` to create sections then use cmd+k to toggle between. Focus mode.

honestly love this idea. I have been thinking to my self lately. Codex needs a note pad but I bounce between agents and applications this makes MUCH more sense.

Capturing is easy. Remembering what I saved and finding it later is the real test for Copper.

this is the first AI capture tool that actually feels like it was built by someone who lives in Claude + Cursor + ChatGPT all day. 😂 The double-shift + local-only approach is perfect. No new tabs, no accounts, no cloud clutter.

This is actually something I've wanted to build a LONG time ago and instead I just have sublime text up all the time with scattered prompts everywhere. Instant PMF imo. Thank you so much @shadcn

Very cool, is this something you would test out with your new idea, where people can by the open source version at a higher price? Are updates free? Would an open source version ship with source code updates or just be a one time source code freeze? I think the later

This is great! We use slack internally for this and fire off agents from there

I have something like this. i like your notepad format way more I think you should copy the prompt buttons i have on image 2. these are the equivalent of a stream deck but digital. hit a button and it copies the prompt to clipboard. im always reusing my prompts this was my solution for that

I NEED this. I have been thinking about building something similar, but now I don't have to. My only issue is what happens when I switch to my second Mac. Cooper does not sync anything, so I'll have to start from scratch on another Mac.

Cool idea! I’m not entirely sure how much I’ll use it myself, but you’ve given (and continue to give) so much to the developer community that I bought it instantly just to show my support. Thank you!

For months, I've been quietly building a prototype of something just because I want it to exist. Papyrus is a word processor, editor, proofreader, fact-checker, deep researcher, brainstorming partner, all in one. It takes your rough draft and helps you skip three revisions. Now I'm considering pivoting my whole team to build it out, but first, I need your vote. You email is your vote. LINK IN COMMENTS. I don't even care if you use some email you never look at and just use for sign ups. To me one email is one vote and says, go ahead and build this damn thing out and make it awesome. I built it because today's apps are the bloated dial-ups of writing (Word, GDocs). They've got a hundred freaking buttons I don't need and bury the ones I do need. Or they're AI marketing slop toys that promise to read my mind and pump out garbage. They just don't get the real work of writing and they don't get me. I want a clean, focused space with a real AI co-pilot. I don't need it to do the all the writing for me, just like I don't need Claude Code to do all the code for me. I want to work with it. I want a writing partner that acts like a full writing team on-call 24X7: proofreading, fact-checking, and running deep research in the background while I focus on the hard parts. I'm tired of cutting and pasting between a dozen tools so I started writing this thing. But won't the big guys just build something like this? Sure. But it will just bolt your ass into their ecosystem. Google Docs will force Gemini on you. Whatever office suite OpenAI pumps out will only use GPT. I want to use any model. Open or closed. They're commodities. The app is the thing. I want the best tool for the job, GPT-5, Kimi, Qwen, Claude, whatever comes tomorrow. I want a fluid, flexible workspace. I'm building this thing for people who've got critical thinking and who build, who don't want to outsource every damn thing to the machine. So if that's you and you believe this should exist, I really need your vote. Tell me to build it and I'll go all-in and make it a reality. Thanks for giving me a moment of your time.

💬 minghao i want to watch you ski 🎱 how do i put it.. these past few years i feel like i cherish my life more. like previously, those bungee jumping, parachuting/skydiving, i wanted to try them. but really as i grow older, for adventurous things, things that are life-threatening, gradually i will try not to do them. my work intensity is already so demanding. although i'm playful and like these kinds of challenging things, things that push the limits.. i feel like no matter what i do, what if i injure myself? and like with concerts, comebacks, and some schedules, i've already made my body so weak, and if i continue to do these extreme things, i'm afraid just suddenly.. right? maybe i might be okay but accidents, you'll never know where they'll come from. [giggles] so really, i feel that if you're still young and have dreams and have the things you want to do, at this moment, you have to do it. because when i was young, although i don't feel like i'm getting old nor feel like my age is too advanced, my mentality is still really youthful. the truth is i'm still not old. but for me previously, a few years ago, whenever i wanted to do something, i'd definitely do it, so as of now i don't have anything that i particularly regret. never feel like 'in the future/later when i'm so on and so forth then i'll do it', at this moment you want to do it, just go and do it. you want to meet anyone, you have to go and meet them. want to do anything, you have to go and do it.
