Polygamy is neither prohibited nor recommended in religion. Prophet Solomon had 1000 wives. Arabs and Africans before Prophet Muhammad SAW was sent used to marry 100 wives. Allah SWT limited the Prophet Muhammad to marry up to 4 wives so as not to burden his religious duties.
