The derelict elver pass on the River Fergus, Ennis, Co. Clare, this week. This elver pass was never maintained and quickly fell into disrepair. This is one of Inland Fisheries Ireland’s (IFI) fish counters. It is difficult to explain why IFI continues to maintain the fish counter here but has allowed the elver pass to fall into disrepair. The European eel is a critically endangered species, and fish passage problems at weirs and dams are among the key reasons for its decline. This fish pass was installed as part of a damaging flood scheme and was intended to help lampreys, but lampreys cannot use it either. This location is within the Lower River Shannon Special Area of Conservation.

I'm listening to these 2 twinks from vox complain about stocking fish and fishing in general because "Invasive species" and how its ruining the waterways. They then go on to complain how outdoorsman are the only ones paying for conservation so they need to tax people who go outside more so they can fund things leftist want. This is a perfect example of the circular firing squad on the left. Their solution to not getting funding is to tax the people who already pay for everything even more and make it prohibitively expensive.

I’ve been into off-roading for years, and one thing I’ve always avoided is river crossing. To me, it’s completely unnecessary. It disrupts aquatic life and the natural ecosystem, and I honestly didn’t expect a brand like Tata to promote this. Water-wading capability can be tested on controlled, man-made tracks.
