Let's not fall for the fearmongering and look at facts instead🛑 E20 ethanol-blended petrol is NOT destroying your vehicle's engine, NOR is it filled with "sugarcane juice." The rumors are nothing but misinformation. Mechanics and daily commuters alike confirm that their vehicles are running perfectly fine on E20 without...

Ground Reality Vs Social Media Myth : E20 fuel has been tested extensively, and millions of vehicles are already running on blended petrol without widespread engine problems. Claims of major engine damage, drastic mileage loss, or insurance rejection due to E20 are not supported by available evidence from automakers and official studies. Ethanol blending has been implemented gradually over many years and is backed by vehicle manufacturers and scientific testing. It also supports India's energy security while creating additional demand for crops such as maize and sugarcane, benefiting many farmers.

The E20 debate needs facts, not manufactured outrage. Here are some undebatable facts : • Ethanol blending began in 2003-not under Gadkari • Gadkari family’s share is just 0.6% of production • The businesses are audited and listed. • It benefits farmers and the domestic economy • Ever 1% ethanol blending saves $1.3 billion in imports • India's Crude import bill fell by 16% in FY24 • Mileage impact is only 2–5% • No study supports “sudden engine damage” So why the relentless propaganda attacks & hit jobs on E20 & Nitin Gadkari? Because when people don't have any facts to support, they resort to propaganda, ad hominem attacks and libellous attempts of discrediting the other side

BJP spokespersons on all debates have their entire explanations based on just 3 arguments on E20: • Ethanol saves foreign exchange • Ethanol saves petrol • Ethanol is good for the environment But Arvind Kejriwal ji has brutally dismantled all three claims in his press conferences. The BJP’s ethanol narrative is now exposed not as policy, but as propaganda. The real question is: who benefits while India bears the cost? Under Trump’s pressure, the Modi government is fooling the people of India with a manufactured E20 narrative. The bluff is exposed. #E20

THE E20 DEBATE: FACTS VS HYPOCRISY. HERE'S AN UNDENIABLE FACT: The E20 programme did not begin under the Modi government. Ethanol blending was approved years earlier, during the UPA. The difference is in execution. Blending remained stuck at roughly 1–1.5% for years before accelerating significantly under the NDA. So, let's first get the politics out of the way. If ethanol blending was acceptable in principle then, why is it suddenly portrayed as anti-people now? Now, let's look at the arguments being presented by critics: CRITICS ARGUMENT 1: E20 FUEL IS BEING PUSHED BY NDA TO KEEP SUGAR CANE FARMERS HAPPY. There's no doubt Ethanol is creating an additional income stream for sugarcane farmers. But governments have always handed out subsidies or incentives to farmers. + MSP exists for 23 crops. Sugar cane farmers get SAP or State Advised Price. + Fertiliser subsidies. + Cheap or free electricity. + Irrigation subsidies. + Procurement policies. If these benefits to farmers are accepted as legitimate public policy, why is E20 policy being targeted in isolation for market distortion? CRITICS ARGUMENT 2: ETHANOL PRODUCTION IS WATER CONSUMING. Yes, sugarcane consumes a great deal of water. But so do + Paddy cultivators. Just look at the tumbling water tables in Punjab, Haryana. + AI and data centers. + Semiconductor manufacturing. + Steel and cement production. The question is not whether something uses water, but whether the benefits justify the costs. Again why are critics holding E20 alone to a test that they don't set for others? CRITICS ARGUMENT 3: THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT MAKE E20 MANDATORY. LEAVE IT TO CHOICE. We're in a democracy and choice matters. But governments routinely make decisions that we, the people have no choice but to accept. + Taxation rates + Emission norms. + Fuel quality standards. + Safety regulations. + Identity Proof. These are often choices imposed to achieve broader national goals. Shouldn't E20 should be judged in the same way? Here's how E20 usage serves NATIONAL INTEREST: + India imports 85–90% of its crude oil. E20 seeks to address that by replacing up to 20% of petrol volume with domestically produced ethanol, helping diversify the fuel mix and reducing import costs. + With E20 NDA estimates saving Rs 1 lakh crore in foreign-exchange. CRITICS ARGUMENT 4: COST OF CAR ENGINE WEAR AND TEAR, MILEAGE INEFFICIENCY OUTWEIGHS BENEFITS. It is true that Ethanol has about 34% less energy per litre than petrol. But because E20 contains only 20% ethanol, the overall energy content of the fuel falls by roughly 4%–7%. So at 5% a car that gives 20 km/L on pure petrol will give 19km/L. But usage also improves air quality. Which increases longevity in humans and lowers healthcare costs over time. That is s fair trade-off. CONCLUSION: Every policy is a trade off. E20 isn't perfect. But if agricultural subsidies, procurement, irrigation policy and fuel regulations are accepted as legitimate public policy, then judge ethanol using the same yardstick.

E20 is not just about fuel. It is about India choosing a cleaner, smarter and more self-reliant future. 🇮🇳 Less dependence on imported crude. More support for farmers. Lower emissions for our cities. Stronger energy security for the country. Every litre of E20 is a small step towards a greener India and a stronger rural economy. #E20 #Petrol

ANMOL CATCHES BJP’S E20 DEFENCE WITH ITS OWN REPORTS 🔥 SHEHZAD: Politicians do not understand vehicles. E20 is safe, engines are not getting damaged, and farmers are earning from ethanol. ANMOL 🎯: People bought E10 vehicles with years of savings. Now E20 is being forced on them. Mileage is falling, engines are taking the hit, and the government wants everyone to pretend it is fine. SHEHZAD: Listen to experts. ARAI says E20 is safe. ANMOL ⚡️: Pure lie. Read the government’s own reports properly. ARAI flags rubber hoses, seals, gaskets and O-rings. NITI Aayog itself says E20 needs compatible parts and calibration. SHEHZAD: Show the report. ANMOL 🔥: I have it. This is not about farmers. This is about forcing citizens into E20 without choice, protection or accountability.

#WATCH | Delhi: On ethanol, Vikram Gulati, Country Head and Executive Vice President (Corporate Affairs and Governance) of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, says, "...I think there is a lot of misunderstanding about the fuel. For example, if you look at it from the automotive sector, there is a lot of myth that if you use E20 blended fuel, vehicles will get damaged. It's a myth. It doesn't happen this way. There's a lot of myth about the amount of mileage loss or the fuel efficiency loss. Yes, there is some fuel efficiency loss, no doubt. But it is not so big as it is being made out to be...E85 and E100, that is, 85% ethanol and 100 % ethanol, are not meant for regular cars. It is meant for a different type of technology, which is called a flex fuel vehicle. This vehicle can take any mix of ethanol. So people need not worry. E20 is the standard fuel that will be available, and it is compatible with old vehicles and new vehicles. All vehicles sold after 1st of April 2023 are fully materially compliant with E20. And people need to be reassured that in 2021, before we went into E20, there was a very detailed scientific study done by the leading automobile testing agency in the country, which is ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India). It clearly established that the possible damage to cars and two wheelers which are old is not there. It's very insignificant. And it also established that the fuel efficiency loss is to the extent of 2 to 4 per cent, not significant." On ethanol, he says, "As per the latest statistics from the government, the program so far has helped save 1.9 trillion rupees. Out of that, 1,60,000 crores has gone to farmers. So in the case of India, it's not only helped us to in some way mitigate the energy crisis, but it's also helped us to help the farmers...The reason why not just India, but many other countries are doing it is for energy security, for the agrarian economy, as well as for fighting climate change and environmental purposes."

People had barely adjusted to E20 fuel, and now KG5 is already being pushed—with just a ₹20 price difference. The government says ethanol blending doesn’t harm engines and claims extensive testing backs it up. But when asked for details of those tests, the information is reportedly “confidential.” Meanwhile, vehicle owners continue to raise concerns about mileage, performance, and long-term engine health. Comparing India to Brazil ignores one key fact: Brazil’s vehicle ecosystem is built for higher ethanol blends. At this rate, it feels like every fuel is becoming an ethanol experiment. Stay alert. And maybe keep a glass of sugarcane juice handy—it might be the only thing not being blended yet. 🌾😄

He claimed the reply confirms that ethanol costs more per litre than petrol, questioning why costlier ethanol is being blended with petrol if the stated objective is to reduce costs. Poonawalla also alleged that sugarcane farmers receive limited financial benefit, while ethanol distilleries are the primary beneficiaries of the policy. He further questioned the government's claim that ethanol blending helps conserve foreign exchange, alleging that India imports industrial ethanol from the United States despite having domestic production capacity. Seen some wild claims about #E20 petrol on your feed lately? Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas #MoPNG has a clear message: Don't fall for the ragebait. ✳️Fuel-grade ethanol used for petrol blending is produced through fermentation and distillation processes that eliminate residual sugars from the final product. ✳️Further, fuel ethanol contains denaturants that are repellent to insects. There is no identifiable attractant associated with E20 fuel that would cause ants or other insects to congregate around vehicle fuel caps. ✳️Ethanol Blending Programme has helped save the country over ₹1.4 lakh crore in foreign exchange through reduced crude oil imports. The programme has also created sustained demand for agricultural feedstocks used in ethanol production, thereby supporting farmers' incomes and strengthening the rural economy.

Earlier, the blending level of ethanol was 10%, and recently it was increased to 20%. ❓Has the government conducted any scientific studies or consulted research associations, such as the one in Pune, before increasing the blending percentage? 👉Another concern is that customers are not aware of ethanol blending in petrol, and retail shops are not displaying any details about it. It is reported that many retail shops are blending ethanol more than 20%, which may affect the mechanical side of vehicles. ❓I also have a question for the Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister. Given the current excess ethanol production in the country, are there plans to explore alternative uses for it? : Benny Behanan ji in Lok Sabha
