The City of Brampton has led the conversation in Canada for international students visas to be linked to housing, and we are pleased that Algoma University is expanding their footprint in Brampton with the building of a new student residence with over 500 beds. This is exactly what we hoped for. Located at Park St and Nelson Street West, it will be a short walk to the downtown campus, providing safe, affordable housing for students. 🚔📹 Today, I was proud to announce that the City of Brampton has completed the installation of 360-degree camera technology at 50 intersections across our city — making Brampton the first municipality in Canada to deploy this technology at traffic intersections on this scale. 🇨🇦 🤝 Working in partnership with Peel Regional Police, this innovative technology is helping investigators solve crimes, support victims, and strengthen community safety. Already, these cameras have assisted police in more than 200 investigations involving serious incidents, including violent crime, auto theft, hit-and-runs, and dangerous driving. 🛡️ Our goal is simple: make Brampton the safest city in Canada and the hardest place for criminals to operate. 🙏 Thank you to Deputy Chief Anthony Odoardi of the Peel Regional Police, Genetec Inc., Axis Communications, members of Council and City staff for their partnership and leadership in delivering this important public safety initiative. ✅ Smarter Technology, Safer communities. ✅ Stronger investigations. ✅ Better tools for law enforcement. #Brampton #CommunitySafety #PublicSafety #PeelPolice #SafeCity #Innovation

They are enraged that the superintendent of the Marietta City School District in Georgia, along with the principal of Marietta High School, stepped in and stopped students from walking out of class to protest a cause many of them likely know little about. This is what the PSL said in response: “Footage from Marietta High School in GA this morning shows hundreds of students being physically blocked by administrators from participating in a student-organized walkout in defense of immigrants and others being terrorized by ICE.” “Reportedly, the superintendent of the Marietta school system attempted to physically restrain students as they sought to assert what they claim are their constitutionally protected First Amendment rights to assemble and peacefully protest.” “This despicable behavior—intimidation and harassment of students by school administrators—should be condemned by all, and those responsible must be held accountable.” “The PSL stands with the thousands of students across Georgia courageously walking out of class today in protest of the racist mass-deportation machine.” There needs to be a full financial audit of PSL and another NGO that are pushing underage students into political protests, especially when those actions escalate into violent situations. I support Marietta City Schools!!!

It has been an amazing journey for me to accept the role of Pro Chancellor of Albukhary International University. The convocation ceremony today showed me the true essence of what the university is about in uplifting students from unprivileged backgrounds and giving them an opportunity at the very critical point in their lives through higher education. These students with the blessing of the Almighty will go on to become leaders of the future and role models for society. I had the honour of awarding each and every of the 218 graduating students and excited to watch them grow into the future society that we leave behind.
