In Linux, stuff like this works either in 2 seconds or 3-5 business days.

No, that's a script kiddie posing as a linux user. I've frankenstein'd a bit of ancient to new hardware into linux and immediately connected to wifi, like normal. Of annoyances, the biggest was converting an Apple machine to linux. That was only an hour, due to I didn't know Apple systems & read some documentation. Installed debian, and immediately good to go.

Except it is missing the part where you give up and go to sleep, and then Linux tries to push pillow on your face.

In 2003, it was true. Today it just works.

Can confirm. Linux gives you all the power to do whatever you want. Including the power accidentally delete everything. 'sudo rm -rf /'

No it fucking isn't.

No, seriously. This is what Linux looks like from the outside.

It is very true for some distros but, ubuntu and fedora feels painless now

Looking back to when I was learning Kali Linux to hack into some neighbors' Wi-Fi, I can honestly say the most challenging part wasn't the hacking itself, but rather configuring the external wireless device, which wasn't simply plug-and-play. 🥸

My wife asks me why I am climbing up and hooking up a physical LAN cable to our router near the ceiling... I'm need to get my wifi to work baby.

10 years ago, it was. Now wifi mostly just works on any decent distro

Nope. Works out of the gate these days

Yeah, pretty much:

As an Arch Linux users: The representation is horribly inefficient. If you already know the information for the wifi, and password, it's literally as simple as one single terminal command. Not getting errors. Not pulling up OSK keyboard on top of another, etc.

No, but that's tryna get audio working in brave browser with my Chromebook running Fedora w/ i3. Now with grok build, I just tell it to fix it for me 😭

How to say i never used Linux without saying

No, connecting to WiFi is not that bad in Linux. Now, if your video drivers are bad, then yes, but instead of the nice visuals this guy has, you just have raw command line interface. A prompt, you're on your own.

Lol, we sudo nmcli devices wifi on; sudo wifi connect "red" password "password" like everybody else

Tell me you're a Windows user without saying you're a Windows user...

Linux now is SO much better than just a few years ago.

No! Not even on pure Arch is it hard. Just use iwctl, scan, pick the network and enterb the password. On Debian, Fedora, Ubuntu, Mint or any distro with KDE, GNOME, Cinnamon, etc., it’s exactly like Windows: click the WiFi icon, choose the network and type the password. Done.

Nah everything works fine on fedora distro by kde plasma

On every single linux distro this is 100% true and real.

Arch user?

Not anymore: 😏

@4h49min se prepare.....

true

Totally true in 2009

WiFi cards are the worst for proprietary software. If you get one that's known to work, it's just plug and play. If not, good luck.
