This is an incredibly cool idea for mixed reality social interactions! Four users play together in MR, and every player has his room joined with the rooms of the other players to create a big hybrid room. Thanks to the scene understanding of Quest, you can also have a rough representation of the furniture the other users have. It's like you remove the distances and you play together in the same space, in this case by throwing each other a hot potato. I discovered this video because a few days ago I posted an article about social AR, and the amazing Ivan Aguilar pointed me to this talk by Jesse Schell at GDC where he talked about the future of MR experiences and showcased this prototype of a mixed reality game. From December 27th, 2021. Pretty much all of us, myself included didn't even know Frazil Ice was a thing. But temperatures were well below -10°C in Squamish, BC. This led to unusual behavior at Shannon Falls. At the bottom, the river was still actively flowing, but it was super cooled to a below freezing temperature now. So wheb it tries to flow, it keeps building an ice layer underneath it. Get it going long enough, and enough force can have that below freezing liquid water flow on top of the ice. Well once that force runs out, the water path gets cutoff, and the flow suddenly stops. And I mean suddenly stops. You are watching a portion of a river stop flowing, and immediately freeze in seconds and disappear. To this day, this is still the most popular video I ever recorded with many thinking this was fake, or the video was reversed. No! This video is 100% authentic, you are just watching something super badass that you didn't know was real. Like I said, myself is included in that! #bcstorm

Production period: just over one month Budget: I used so many credits that I’d rather not think about it. AI tools used: About 90% of the video was made with Kling 3.0 Omni. Seedance 2.0 was announced partway through production, which made me hesitate, but in the end I only used it very sparingly, for the few parts I just couldn’t express with Kling. From here on, it will become normal to create footage that looks incredibly natural and impressive. In that sense, I also feel that when I look back on this later, the slight traces of “AI-ness” that remain may actually give it a certain charm. I know that only a very rare and generous few will watch a video over six minutes long made by an amateur. But as the film goes on, I became more and more familiar with how to use Kling 3.0 Omni and how to work with its quirks, so I believe the quality improves toward the latter half. Nothing would make me happier than if you stayed with it until the very end.
