visionOS 26 quietly introduced a glimpse into the future of how we’ll browse the web: a spatial Reader. Safari can now automatically transform a website’s content into a spatial experience using Spatial Scenes — allowing you to literally look into the rooms of the apartment you’re about to book for your next holiday. It does this by beautifully blending the content with your surroundings and softly tinting your room with the website’s color palette. It's just not possible to capture. This is a big update! visionOS 2.4 Beta is now available and I’m genuinely excited! The public release hits in April, but here’s the rundown of what’s available in visionOS 2.4 Beta today: • Apple Intelligence is coming to Vision Pro! All those rumors that said the first model wouldn’t get it. Dead wrong. We’re getting Image Playground to whip up fun images, Genmoji for custom emojis, and my personal favorite, Writing Tools. This is just the start of Apple Intelligence on Vision Pro and I’m excited to see where it takes us. • Guest User feature! Hand your Vision Pro to someone, and your nearby iPhone or iPad pings with an 'Allow Guest User' option. You pick their apps from your device, kick off View Mirroring with AirPlay to see what they’re seeing, and guide them through the experience. It’s clean, easy, and something many of us have been asking for. • A new Spatial Gallery app! Apple’s curating a stunning lineup of spatial photos, videos, and panoramas from artists, filmmakers, and brands like Cirque du Soleil and Porsche. Can’t wait to dive into that. • A new Vision Pro app for iPhone! Browse and queue up apps or games to download, discover spatial content from Apple TV and Spatial Gallery, and grab handy tips—all from your iPhone. It’ll roll out with iOS 18.4 wherever Vision Pro’s sold. I am absolutely blown away by the new visionOS 2 feature that turns regular photos into spatial photos. It works even better than taking actual spatial photos and video using my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I expected wonky and inconsistent cutting out of subjects. There is none. 10/10!

Finally got a Vision Pro, and now I can test all the prototypes that I made for VisionOS last year 🥳 My overall impression of Vision Pro: a piece of art. The user experience is very smooth and solid. Developing for VisionOS is a pure joy. No glitches and bugs so far. The real-time interactive updates in the preview are *chef kiss*. People who have been in XR for a while are not really spoiled by things that just work. In this regard, the Vision Pro experience feels magical. We are always happy when a system's behaviour matches our expectations (a little dopamine reward to celebrate the accuracy of our predictions). The greatest features for Spatial Designers: UI panel material highlights, UI panel shadow, and UI panel translucency. It finally makes spatial transformations meaningful (for free!). You see how your UI engages with the environment using visual affordances that people get used to. And yeah, as you can see, I recorded this video at night, and it worked great. So it's excellent news for all-night hackers 😁 #handtracking #directmanipulation #spatialcomputing #spatialdesign #visionpro #visionos #swiftui #mixedreality
