3732 spans to be launched with two gantries means 1866 per gantry. If each can launch 2 per day, we get 933 days to launch all. Add 180 more days to do side walls, electricals, topping & pain. Plus 180 days for ramps. Total 3.5 years more. My guess: Inauguration in Mar 2030.

4 hours. Two massive trusses. One major step forward for Mumbai’s next high-speed road corridor. MMRDA has achieved a major construction milestone on the 13.9-km Elevated Eastern Freeway Extension (EFE), with the successful erection of the two Main Trusses of its Segment Launcher, each 59 metres long and weighing 160 tonnes, on the busy Eastern Express Highway. The entire complex operation was completed within a record 4-hour window, with the actual erection of both trusses taking just 1 hour. The operation was executed through meticulous planning, stringent safety measures and seamless coordination between MMRDA and the Mumbai Traffic Police. So, what happens next? With the Main Trusses now in place, the Segment Launcher will begin erecting 1,632 precast segments, each weighing approximately 90 MT, span by span. These will form the 25-metre-wide single-cell segment superstructure, accelerating viaduct construction and taking the project into its next major phase. And what does this mean for Mumbai? The EFE is a fully elevated, 6-lane high-speed corridor connecting Anand Nagar in Thane with Chheda Nagar in Ghatkopar, designed to create a faster, more reliable route while easing congestion on the Eastern Express Highway, one of Mumbai’s busiest transport corridors. Once completed, the EFE is expected to reduce travel time between South Mumbai and Thane to approximately 20–25 minutes, making everyday journeys faster while strengthening connectivity across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. 🏗️ A major engineering milestone for Mumbai Metro Line 2B! MMRDA has successfully lifted and installed the first 70-tonne back-span pier segment of the Bandra Railway Over Bridge, marking the start of steel superstructure work on one of Mumbai’s most challenging cable-stayed bridges. The 200-metre bridge is being built across the Western Express Highway and Western Railway corridor near Bandra Railway Station — one of Mumbai’s busiest and most complex transport environments. The cable-stayed structure comprises: 🔹 A 104-metre main span, supported by back spans of 43 metres and 53 metres 🔹 49 composite steel segments, including 24 across the back spans and 25 across the main span 🔹 Two 20.1-metre-high pylons, with four of six casting lifts already completed at both locations 🔹 The entire substructure completed, including foundations and piers With the first 70-tonne segment successfully installed, work can now move ahead on the next stage of the steel superstructure. What makes this feat even more significant is where it is being built: across a live railway corridor and one of Mumbai’s busiest highways, with rail and road traffic continuing uninterrupted. A big thank you to the engineers, workers and teams on the ground whose planning, precision and commitment to safety have made this possible. 🙌 This milestone takes Metro Line 2B, Mumbai’s vital East–West connector from DN Nagar to Maharashtra Nagar–Mandale, another step closer to completion. Once fully operational, Line 2B will cut travel time by up to 75%, help reduce congestion and pollution, and connect seamlessly with four Metro lines, the Monorail, and both Central and Western Railway. Another span in place. Another connection closer to reality. MMRDA’s vision of transforming Thane into a major mobility-led economic hub has crossed another crucial milestone, with pile foundation and pier construction work for the creek portion of the Gaimukh–Payegaon Bridge nearing completion. As per the latest update, piling work along the Thane Creek portion is now over 95% complete. Pier erection and pier-cap construction are also progressing rapidly, while work has advanced at both the Gaimukh and Paye–Payegaon ends of the project Overall, around 25% of the project has now been completed. The 6.5-km creek bridge is a key link in the multimodal mobility network being developed by MMRDA to transform connectivity across Thane and the wider region. The network brings together multiple road, metro rail and tunnel projects, planned as part of an integrated approach to regional mobility. The bridge will connect Gaimukh on Ghodbunder Road with Chinchoti and Payegaon, creating a more direct connection to Bhiwandi, Vasai and the northern parts of the MMR. Ghodbunder Road is already one of Thane’s busiest transport corridors, carrying traffic between the city, Mumbai’s western suburbs, Mira-Bhayandar and the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Highway. At present, commuters travelling from Thane towards Chinchoti, Payegaon or Vasai have to cross the ghat section at Ghodbunder, where traffic is further affected by the movement of heavy vehicles. The creek bridge will allow this ghat section to be bypassed completely, creating a faster and more direct route for commuters and freight movement. The bridge will also strengthen connectivity with several major transportation projects, including the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail, Thane Coastal Road, Virar–Alibaug Multimodal Corridor, Diva–Vasai railway line, National Highway 48 and the Anjur–Chinchoti Road, among others. More than a bridge, the Gaimukh–Payegaon Creek Bridge is a critical link in building a connected mobility ecosystem for Thane, strengthening its position as a major mobility and economic hub. #MMRDA #Thane #GaimukhPayegaonBridge #InfrastructureDevelopment #ReimaginingMMR #MumbaiInMinutes #IntegratedMobility #ViksitMaharashtra CMO Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis Eknath Shinde - एकनाथ शिंदे Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee MAHARASHTRA DGIPR PIB India

Mahalaxmi to Get India's First Travellator-Equipped Skywalk Linking Monorail, Metro 3 and Suburban Railway MMRDA has completed approximately 90% of the Mahalaxmi Multimodal Connectivity Project, a landmark initiative that will seamlessly connect Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk Monorail Station, Metro Line 3 and Mahalaxmi Suburban Railway Station through India's first travellator-equipped skywalk, making travel across Mumbai faster, safer and more convenient. Once operational, the integrated interchange will reduce transfer time by approximately 20 minutes, improve access to the Mumbai Monorail from South Mumbai and Worli, and encourage greater use of public transport through seamless multimodal connectivity. Project Highlights: • Approximately 283-metre-long integrated pedestrian bridge • 11-metre-wide structure for smooth passenger movement • Six travellators with a combined length of 176 metres • Two passenger lifts for universal accessibility • Capacity to accommodate approximately 4,500 passengers every hour Built in one of Mumbai's most utility-congested corridors, the project reflects MMRDA's engineering expertise. A 1,800 mm diameter storm water drain was safely relocated before foundation works began, while adjacent water supply and sewer pipelines remained undisturbed, ensuring uninterrupted civic services throughout construction. The project was also executed without felling a single tree, with traffic managed in close coordination with the Traffic Police and the annual Ganesh Visarjan processions along Sane Guruji Marg continuing without disruption. More than a pedestrian bridge, this is another step towards a truly integrated public transport ecosystem where Metro, Monorail and suburban rail work together as one seamless network for Mumbai. The Kasheli Depot, the operational backbone of Mumbai Metro Line 5, is steadily taking shape with 23% overall physical progress achieved as of June 2026. Spread across approximately 27 hectares near Kasheli Toll Plaza, the depot is being developed to support the long-term operations, maintenance and stabling requirements of the 32 km Thane–Bhiwandi–Kalyan–Ulhasnagar Metro corridor. Designed to accommodate around 30 trainsets, the facility will include inspection bays, workshop lines, a test track, a Depot Control Centre, administrative facilities, staff quarters, utility infrastructure and advanced maintenance systems. Given the site's challenging marine clay conditions, #MMRDA has adopted advanced ground improvement techniques in consultation with #IITBombay to ensure long-term structural stability. At the same time, temporary inspection, testing and commissioning facilities are being developed to support the phased rollout and early operational readiness of #MumbaiMetro Line 5. As construction progresses, the Kasheli Depot is set to become the technical and operational hub that will power safe, reliable and efficient metro services across Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan and Ulhasnagar. Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis said, "The Kasheli Depot reflects Maharashtra's commitment to building modern and reliable public transport infrastructure. Metro Line 5 will strengthen connectivity across Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan and Ulhasnagar while advancing our vision of a developed, well-connected Maharashtra." Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister and Chairman, MMRDA, Shri Eknath Shinde - एकनाथ शिंदे said, "The Kasheli Depot will be central to the safe and efficient operation of Metro Line 5. Its steady progress brings the Mumbai Metropolitan Region closer to faster, reliable, and high-capacity public transport connectivity." #ReimaginingMMR #MMRDA #KasheliDepot #MetroLine5 #UrbanMobility #MahaMumbaiMetro #Infrastructure #MumbaiMetro #TransformingMMR #Infrastructure #MumbaiMetro CMO Maharashtra Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee MAHARASHTRA DGIPR PIB India PIB in Maharashtra 🇮🇳

Redefining Connectivity: Mumbai’s Journey Towards Integrated Mobility Delighted to inaugurate, flag off, and unveil the stone plaque of 'Metro Line 9: Dahisar (East) to Kashigaon (Phase-1)', ‘Metro Line 2(B) Deshbhakt N. G. Acharya Udyan - Diamond Garden to Maharashtra Nagar, Mandale (Phase-1), and e-Bhoomipujan of the Automated Rapid Transit System (Pod Taxi) Project for Bandra-Kurla Complex, and the launch of 'Tunnel Boring Machine - Nayak' for the 'Thane-Borivali Underground Tunnel Project' in Mumbai, marking a significant step towards seamless connectivity and transformative urban mobility. Metro services have commenced today on the 4.7 km corridor from Dahisar East to Kashigaon, with four stations along the route, enhancing connectivity and making travel between Mumbai and Mira-Bhayandar faster and more convenient. This project, with an investment of approximately ₹6607 crore, will reduce the current travel time from 1-2 hours to nearly 30 minutes. In the upcoming phases, this corridor will be integrated with Metro Line 3, enabling seamless travel from Mira-Bhayandar to Colaba. With over 100 kilometres of metro lines now operational, Mumbai has emerged as the second-largest metro network in the country after Delhi. In the coming years, the network will expand further with the completion of several ongoing projects, strengthening connectivity across the city. The first phase of Metro Line 2B, spanning 5.6 km with five stations, is now operational from today. Once the rest of the phases are fully completed, this transformative project will seamlessly connect the East-West and North-South corridors, enabling smoother and more efficient travel across the city. Notably, this will be the first metro line to connect with the Harbour Line, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Mumbai’s integrated urban transport network. The e-Bhoomipujan of the innovative ‘Pod Taxi’ project was undertaken in the BKC area, marking a significant step towards strengthening last-mile connectivity. This automated system will enable commuters to reach within 100–150 metres of their destinations, enhancing convenience and efficiency. The Thane-Borivali Twin Tunnel Project is a landmark initiative that will significantly decongest Mumbai and Thane cities. Spanning 11.84 km, including a 10.25 km twin tunnel stretch, this transformative corridor is designed for efficiency and safety, featuring two traffic lanes and one emergency lane in each tunnel. The tunnels are being constructed in a safe, efficient, and eco-friendly manner, keeping in mind the ecological sensitivity of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
