Connecting Claude with web search is magic! Finally got the chance to play with MCP servers. I hooked up Claude Desktop with GitHub & Brave web search MCP servers for staying up to date with AI news. I also asked Claude to create a new GitHub repo and log the news there. This exceeded my expectations. Check the full video (at 2x) for the first demo. MCP is mind-blowing. Here is a genius setup that will earn you a promotion with your manager. I have multiple data sources: data in S3, MySQL, and local files. Using Spice (an open-source project), I can co-locate all of that data behind a single SQL endpoint and augment it using MCP. Before, accessing data was slow, and I had to make multiple requests to get anything. After using Spice, I can query the data much faster (since it's mirrored locally), and I don't have to worry about where the data is coming from. Spice acts as an MCP server, so I can connect to it from my IDE or the Claude Desktop app and have access to all the data. But even more cool than that: Spice also acts as an MCP client, so it can connect to other MCP servers. This is where things get really interesting! Watch the video. I'm querying multiple data sources from my IDE and using the Google Maps MCP server for driving directions.

I'm still picking my jaw off the floor with this MCP update: Postman will now automatically build an MCP server for an API. Automatically! You select your API and the requests you want to include, and Potman will generate a Zip file with everything you need. In collaboration with Postman, I recorded a video showing how I generated an MCP server for the Google Maps API. It's glorious! Also, and before I forget: You can now test any MCP server with your Postman application. They built MCP right in, so now you can: • Connect to an MCP server • List out all of the available tools • Test any of the tools This is a 10x boost for the MCP ecosystem. If you've tried the default MCP debugger, you'll understand how huge a deal it is that you can do all of that from Postman now. Go here to give this a try:

Tonight I hooked my CEM up to Fusion 360 via MCP after a design and it rebuilt it! Real feature trees a machinist can open, edit, and cut toolpaths from. The system that designs in code can now speak the language of every shop floor on Earth. So to answer if you can transfer your LEAP 71 work to CAD. Yes, you can.

If your MCP server has dozens of tools, it’s probably built wrong. You need tools that are specific and clear for each use case—but you also can’t have too many. This creates an almost impossible tradeoff that most companies don’t know how to solve. That’s why I interviewed my friend Alex Rattray (Alex Rattray), the founder and CEO of Stainless. Stainless builds APIs, SDKs, and MCP servers for companies like OpenAI and Anthropic. Alex has spent years mastering how to make software talk to software, and he came on the show to share what he knows. I had him on Every 📧’s AI & I to talk about MCP and the future of the AI-native internet. We get into: • Design MCP servers to be lean and precise. Alex’s best practices for building reliable MCP servers start with keeping the toolset small, giving each tool a precise name and description, and minimizing the inputs and outputs the model has to handle. At Stainless, they also often add a JSON filter on top to strip out unnecessary data. • Make complex APIs manageable with dynamic mode. To solve the problem of how an AI figures out which tool to use in larger APIs, Stainless switches to “dynamic mode,” where the model gets only three tools: List the endpoints, pick one and learn about it, and then execute it. • MCP servers as business copilots. I'm not a 3d modeler. I barely know how to open blender let alone do anything functional in it. But with the siddharth ahuja blender MCP and Claude I was able to vibe code an entire environment for my upcoming grow a garden game in Portals Claude used the MCP to assemble and arrange every single asset in this space (i literally don't even know how to import an asset into blender lol) within the spawn of a few hours and with access to a folder of low poly assets. When I had it start doing its own modeling, it even matched the style of the environment to keep things consistent If you are building UGC games and you don't know anything about modeling or design like me, you gotta try it out...

Amplitude MCP exposes all of Amplitude's functionality so an agent can interact with it directly. You are brain-dead if you think the CLI killed MCP. Anthropic just reported 300 million downloads for the MCP SDK (up from 100M at the beginning of the year). The complaint I keep hearing: MCP pollutes your context. That's a 1-year-old argument. Context pollution is not a protocol problem, but a client one. None of the agentic tools you use have that issue: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc. All of them implement progressive disclosure and load MCP tools on demand. MCPs and CLIs complement each other: • MCP offers OAuth-based authentication, standardized transport, remote access for cloud-hosted agents, and a public registry with thousands of servers. • CLIs offer Unix-style composition (pipes, stdin/stdout), zero upfront schema cost, and massive training distribution (models have seen far more shell than any structured tool format). You don't (and shouldn't) pick a side here. You should be using both where they fit.

You are brain-dead if you think the CLI killed MCP. Anthropic just reported 300 million downloads for the MCP SDK (up from 100M at the beginning of the year). The complaint I keep hearing: MCP pollutes your context. That's a 1-year-old argument. Context pollution is not a protocol problem, but a client one. None of the agentic tools you use have that issue: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc. All of them implement progressive disclosure and load MCP tools on demand. MCPs and CLIs complement each other: • MCP offers OAuth-based authentication, standardized transport, remote access for cloud-hosted agents, and a public registry with thousands of servers. • CLIs offer Unix-style composition (pipes, stdin/stdout), zero upfront schema cost, and massive training distribution (models have seen far more shell than any structured tool format). You don't (and shouldn't) pick a side here. You should be using both where they fit.

MCP now supports authentication using OAuth2. This is huge! I want to share a complete example (code) so you can learn how to use it. Here is the thing: You don't want to build agentic applications that access resources without proper guardrails. With authentication, you can: • Call third-party APIs on the user's behalf • Perform actions that should be traceable • Enforce different permissions for different roles Here is an MCP-based web shop demo, built with WorkOS AuthKit and Next.js. So over the years as a Content Creator for World of Warcraft, I've picked up a few great camera tricks that can make your footage look more professional. Not sure how widely known these are but I'll share some that I know and hopefully it will be helpful to someone! So firstly, let me show you how to do a smooth rotation shot. You're going to want to create a Macro for this with this script; /script MoveViewRightStart(0.15) To modify the direction, you can change the word "Right" to Left, In, Out, Up or Down. The number at the end indicates the speed of the rotation, the higher the number the faster the rotation. I tend to keep this fairly low for a nice non-sickening rotation. Now you can combine as many of these as you like. So if you wanted a smooth shot that zoomed in on your Character while rotating Right you would make a macro like this; /script MoveViewRightStart(0.15) /script MoveViewInStart(0.15) It is fun to play around with but you will also need to create a "Stop" macro. I go with a generic one like this which will stop all rotation in all directions; /script MoveViewLeftStop() /script MoveViewDownStop() /script MoveViewRightStop() /script MoveViewUpStop() /script MoveViewInStop() /script MoveViewOutStop() Another trick to get the best possible shots of areas or up close combat is to hide your Character model. This is done with a simple console command; /console showplayer To show your player character again just type it again.
