E20 in the long run is an excellent move if it actually helps farmers, reduce pollution and cut on the import costs. But everyone will laud it even more if e10 petrol will be given as a choice too in all pumps for cars manufactured before 2023.

We would love our SM fam to give us feedback on what they think!! The officials were worried about the debt of Ethanol distilleries' & if E10 is introduced, the consumption would go down! We told them: what about the common man on EMIs for two wheelers & cars? So our suggestion was Make E10 available for E10 compatible vehicles. Divert surplus ethanol to industry, instead of importing from the US. This saves our foreign reserves, protects farmers, saves the distilleries, and gives vehicle owners the fuel their manuals recommend. How did u guys like this idea? Bro copied the standards for Ethanol policy from USA, but didn't copy their testing results and implementation. Even today, E20 is not mandated in the USA. Standard American gas stations predominantly sell E10 fuel, which holds over 95% of the market share. Higher ethanol blends like E15 have only a 1–2% share. The USA tested E15 and E20 across 86 vehicle models and 6 million miles (96 lakh miles) in 2011, based on which E15 was approved only for new cars that were E15 compliant, while older cars continued to get E10. E20 was not mandated due to engine wear concerns in non-compliant cars, which were in the majority in the USA. And most importantly, unlike India, the USA made their studies public. So what kind of policymaking is this? If you want to copy, either copy everything: the standards, the test results, the implementation, the way ahead, or don't copy anything at all.

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta said that the capital's new EV Policy has been officially notified in the Gazette and is now in effect. From now on, buyers of electric two-wheelers will receive a ₹30,000 subsidy; electric three-wheelers, ₹50,000 subsidy; and N1 category light commercial vehicles, ₹1 lakh subsidy. All electric cars priced below ₹30 lakh are fully exempt from Road Tax and Registration Fee. The government is also offering scrappage incentives for those replacing old vehicles with new EVs. The policy has set aggressive deadlines for three-wheelers, light commercial vehicles like mini trucks and two-wheelers. Only EVs in the first two categories can be registered from January 1, 2027, and a similar deadline is set for two-wheelers on January 1, 2028. Yes, three institutions produced reports on the long-term effects of E20, suggesting that older vehicles might experience problems, particularly on rubber parts. July 1, 2026. Delhi’s new EV Policy has been officially notified in the Gazette and is now in effect. From today, buyers of electric two-wheelers will receive a ₹30,000 subsidy, electric three-wheelers ₹50,000, and N1 category light commercial vehicles ₹1 lakh. All electric cars priced below ₹30 lakh are fully exempt from Road Tax and Registration Fee. The government is also offering scrappage incentives for those replacing old vehicles with new EVs.
