Tobias Scharnowski compromised a Tesla Universal Wall Connector through the charging cable itself. the chain: → compromise the Tesla Wall Connector through the charging cable itself (SWCAN protocol on the Control Pilot line, the wire that's supposed to just talk power levels) → the charger then hacks the car's infotainment system over wifi. on its own → the car parks near chargers from other brands → the infotainment system hacks an Autel MaxiCharger and a ChargePoint Home Flex over bluetooth. also on its own one plug-in. four vendors. zero clicks after the first move. but the exploit isn't the interesting part. the wall connector firmware is bare metal ARM, binary only, no source, no symbols. testing it live on the device gets you one attempt every few seconds and a single bit of feedback: did it crash. they built an emulator to run the firmware off the actual hardware. same testing, 1000x faster. that's the difference between "this chip is unfuzzable" and finding a critical bug in hours. the bug: a signed integer read from the firmware header turns into a memory write past where it should stop, during the exact step meant to verify the firmware is legit. it had been sitting there through however many people read that code. slides in the reply. this might be my favorite Black Hat talk this year.

I asked AI to build a virtual Ethernet hub (a hub routes traffic) that acts like a local LAN, but instead of connecting physical computers in a home, it connects other browser sessions on the internet that have running Windows 3.11 open at any time, and with DHCP it can assign an IP to every browser session dynamically, so they literally all become part of a local LAN on the internet! It runs on a virtual NE2000 network card that sends its network data not to a network cable but via Websockets to wss://pieter.com And it works, well kinda, I just started and its' not perfect, but I'm able to PING in MS-DOS from one tab to the other! Bash is all you need! Which is why I'm introducing my holiday project: just-bash just-bash is a pretty complete implementation of bash in TypeScript designed to be used as a bash tool by AI agents. Because it turns out agents love exploring data via shell scripts, even beyond coding. It comes with grep, sed, awk and the 99th percentile features that an agent like Claude Code or Cursor would use. In fact, Claude Code can use it for secure bash execution. That said, it is, like, a lot of code and I didn't read it all 😅. This is very much a hack, but it also seems to be _really_ useful. I haven't really found anything agents want to use that it doesn't support and it's fast and secure (caveats apply). Cable Zercher Slant Board Squat This is a very cool exercise I have started doing with the following beneficial mechanics: - Slant Board (Heels Elevated): The incline shifts your center of gravity forward, allowing for greater knee flexion, a deeper squat for those with limited mobility and a more upright torso. This puts an extreme emphasis on the quadriceps, particularly the vastus medialis (VMO) or teardrop muscle. - Zercher Position: Holding the load in the crooks of your elbows forces your upper back and core to work harder to prevent the weight from pulling your torso forward. This is a very natural force pattern that has great carryover to real life applications. - Safety/Stability: The cable acts as a guide, making it easier to maintain your balance on the slant board while focusing entirely on the muscle contraction, good for those who want to push the legs with a bit more “safety” than a free weight squat. Unlike a barbell where the tension changes through the range of motion (getting "easier" at the top), the cable provides constant mechanical tension throughout the entire squat. It is an exceptional movement for building teardrop quad definition and improving knee stability, as well as core bracing. I like to do it 6 or so sets, high volume repetitions - pyramiding up from low weight to high with minimal rest times - focusing on achieving the most brutal lactic acid build up that I can in the legs, done at the start of a workout. Even though the weight isn’t hugely high on the cable machine, it still packs a massive punch. Try it out!
