One of biggest issues in this West Bengal election is unemployment and the SSC sScam. So I want everyone to remember this video of TMC candidate Kunal Ghosh. In an interview with ABP, Kunal Ghosh openly admitted that TMC and Mamata Banerjee were aware of the SSC scam long before the 2021 election. Mamata Banerjee knew that Partha Chatterjee had taken money, yet she did not take any action against him. Instead, she made Partha Chatterjee a minister again and continued to meet him at public events. If Mamata really cared about the teachers and the people of Bengal, she would have removed Partha from her party and ensured that every tainted candidate lost their job. But how could she do that? Her own niece was a beneficiary of the scam. Mamata never expected that the ED would recover cash from Partha’s house and expose the SSC scam. She is involved in corruption. Journalist Suman Chattopadhyay (Chatterjee) has been a rage among Bengali content viewers throughout the West Bengal election campaign. He continues to be one of the most-heard anti-TMC/Mamata Banerjee voices among Bengalis. In this video, he is seen during his younger days interviewing the then-Minister of Transport, Sports and Youth Services of West Bengal, CPI(M)’s Subhas Chakraborty, in the early 2000s. Chatterjee is seen behaving as a regular journalist here. So, why is recalling this 2002 interview important? Recently, Chatterjee said in an interview with a former Anandabazar Patrika colleague that when he rose from the rank of a reporter to that of the editor of the most popular Bengali newspaper, he told the owner, Aveek Sarkar, that toeing the Congress line, which the paper was known for until then — housing a host of journalists who were virtually members of the Congress — wouldn’t keep it ahead in the competition. Those days, Bartaman was breathing down its neck. He averred that the paper must reach out to the ruling communists as well. This interview can be seen in the light of that marketing strategy. At the same time, ABP activated its reporters and stringers in all 23 districts of the state, an outreach that only communist journalists were known for until then. Sarkar agreed to both proposals. A few years after he quit ABP, Bennett, Coleman and Co Ltd invited Chatterjee to head Ei Samay, the Times of India group’s Bengali newspaper. He was considered a competent candidate to make the start-up gain a foothold in a fiercely fought market space. His performance did not disappoint. While Chatterjee had known Mamata Banerjee since the era of Rajiv Gandhi and was aware of her penchant for histrionics, he decided to overlook that trait of hers. He promoted her big-time as the future chief minister of West Bengal while personally disapproving of her antics. The very people who once institutionalized corruption are today raising allegations against others, which is precisely why such accusations carry little credibility. This appears to be nothing more than an attempt to project themselves as the “good Trinamool.” The party has always allowed space for internal discussions and dissent, but those who chose silence when it truly mattered are now conveniently trying to distance themselves from their own responsibilities. Ironically, many of the leaders who were nurtured, empowered, and given recognition by Abhishek Banerjee are today speaking against him. What is even more unfortunate is that Abhishek is now being forced to shoulder the burden of the incompetence and opportunism of those very leaders. This is the Real Face of "Farmer Friendly" Mamata Banerjee Govt:- # Farmers were asked to bring their paddy to the Kishan Mandi (Procurement Centre) at Goghat in the Hooghly District, on a certain date. When they lined up their yields on vehicles in front of the Kishan Mandi, the Millers told them that, they would procure the paddy only if the Farmers are willing to give away 5-10 kg per Quintal (100 kg), at free of cost. That is 5 - 10% discount. # The Farmers contacted the Paddy Purchase Officer; a State Govt Representative, and narrated how they were being arm twisted as they have already reached by hiring vehicles and have transported the paddy and that it's not possible for them to take back the paddy as they would incur huge financial loss. # The Paddy Purchase Officer assured them that he is on the way, but he never showed up. # The Farmers got frustrated after waiting for more than 3-4 hours, and started a peaceful agitation. # Arup Kumar Mondal; the Officer-in-Charge, Goghat Police Station; Hooghly Rural Police District, showed up instantly, hurling abuses & expletives towards the peacefully protesting Farmers and manhandled them. So, Farmers in WB are being forcefully duped by the Millers in connivance with the Administration. They don't even have the right to protest peacefully as Lathi-wielding Mamata Police won't even allow them to do that. He stated that two Iranian missiles were fired in the direction of Cyprus, but clearly added: 👉 “We don’t believe they were targeted at Cyprus.” The point he was making was about regional risk, not a direct attack on Cyprus. Given the geography, Israel is extremely close to Cyprus. Missiles aimed toward Israel or military activity in that area can naturally pass through or near the wider Eastern Mediterranean airspace, which includes Cyprus. That proximity raises concern — but concern does not mean Cyprus was the intended target. In fact, the minister’s message was that Iran’s response appears wide-ranging and indiscriminate across the region, creating risks for nearby areas and military personnel, even when they are not the intended objective. So let’s be accurate: ✅ Missiles were detected heading in a direction that concerned the area. ❌ Cyprus was NOT confirmed as a target. ❌ There is no statement saying Iran attacked Cyprus. After that when I called and asked what happened, they told me to come to the hospital. When we called again, the (caller) identified himself as Assistant Super and said your daughter has committed suicide. She went to duty on Thursday, we got this call on Friday at 10:53am. When we reached there, we were not allowed to see her, we were allowed to see her at 3 o'clock. Her pants were open, there was only one piece of cloth on her body. Her hand was broken, blood was coming out of her eyes, mouth. Just by looking at her, it seemed that someone had murdered her. I told them it is not suicide, it's a murder. We worked so hard to make our daughter a doctor but she was murdered." On Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's call, she says, "She (Mamata Banerjee) said that the culprit will be arrested as soon as possible, but nothing has happened so far. One person has been arrested. I am sure many more are involved in this incident. I think the entire department is responsible for the incident... The police did not do a good job at all. I feel that the Chief Minister is trying to stop the protest, today she imposed Section 144 here so that people cannot protest." On the CP, she says, "They did not cooperate with us at all, they only tried to hush up the case as soon as possible. Their attempt was to get the post-mortem done as soon as possible and remove the body."

This was the Bengal of my grandfather’s generation that I had only read about, and of my father’s generation that I got glimpses of, the vestiges of which I found only in Pannalal Bhattacharya’s cassettes when I came of age. This is the Bengal I wanted back. This is the Bengal I have longed to go back to. In 2011, I asked Derek O’Brien whether he would advise my return. He said I should, but the portents were not encouraging. I’d left Kolkata not for Bengal’s anti-Hinduism but its sheer lack of development. A report on Anandabazar Patrika in early 1994 said the then-Left Front government would build 14 flyovers in Calcutta — the few that existed back then ran only over railway tracks — in collaboration with Japan. As the Purva Express left the Howrah station, and my mother asked when I would return, I replied, “When those 14 flyovers have been built.” While the Trinamool Congress hadn’t yet turned jihadi, it ran like a headless chicken for its first five years in government. Nothing happened on the economic front. Yeah, flyovers did come up but as eyesores, affecting the city’s skyline (in front of the Oberoi Grand), confusing motorists (the Esplanade-Santragachhi stretch and those over the Lower Circular Road) and with warnings that they were unfit for heavy transport (the flyover at the Gariahat crossroads). In the next 10 years, Mamata Banerjee let loose her ‘milch cows’ whose kicks she later said she had no option but to tolerate. Returning home was out of the question. With the Bengali youth singing Shyama Sangeet in chorus as fervently as their counterparts in northern India sing paeans to Rama, Ma Kali is reclaiming her land. With Ma Lakshmi promising to return to Bengal, too, I must rebuild my home that has remained under lock and key, nearly forgotten, for the past 32 years.
