John Mearsheimer - undoubtedly the most renowned International Relations scholar in the world today - on Gaza: Israel is "waging a punishment campaign in Gaza, they are punishing the civilian population... The Israelis are interested in causing a huge amount of destruction in Gaza and in the process they are going to kill huge numbers of civilians... It seems to me that when you do that you're committing war crimes. If the Israelis were going to great length to target just Hamas and avoid civilian casualties then you could make a coherent argument that this is not a case of them committing war crimes but they're not doing that, they're purposely tearing the place apart. This is a massive punishment campaign. Furthermore at the same time they've cut off all food, water and gas to Gaza and this means that in effect they're going to end up starving out, or trying to starve out, the civilian population in Gaza. By my understanding of international law, this too is a war crime." He also says the U.S. is "definitely complicit" in those war crimes.

🇷🇺fought a bitter war with Chechnya.🇷🇺won and then rebuilt Chechnya. Compare Grozny during the war and now a beautiful rebuilt city and prosperous. Chechens now even fight for🇷🇺.🇮🇱needs to uplift Palestinians and treat them as equal human beings, not as animals in cages.

The 'two-state' solution was forced on Palestine by the US & Israel, and neither has any desire to implement it. The only solution is a state where both Jews and Arabs live. However, 100,000s of current 'Israelis' will need to return to their country of birth for it to work.

I don’t think Israel will even try to beat Hamas. Eliminating Hamas would make denying equal rights tremendously difficult. Hamas will live on, serving as the main excuse for maintaining separate rights for whomever remain in this latest expansion of Israeli borders.

The question is: can he convince most Americans? I think he will not. You have to ask yourself — do you believe what we see with our own eyes, or do you believe what President Trump says? Before this war, hardly anyone thought the Iranians would do as well as they have. I don't think anyone fully understood — including the Iranians themselves — exactly how well Iran would do against the United States.

What do Arab leaders care about? Their own public opinion. Every Arab leader cares about the mood on the street. And if their public is in a frenzy against Israel because we're constantly appearing in a terrible light, then even if you were to promise a Palestinian state, it wouldn't necessarily help. In any case, there's one thing I won't do: I won't endanger the State of Israel with a Palestinian state. I won't sign on to that.
