I had this interesting argument with some female colleagues at work the other day about BBL’s (Brazilian butt lifts). I was patient with them knowing that their views are largely influenced by social media constructs and emotional arguments. The question was why do women do BBL’s? My simple argument was that women go through life threatening bbl surgeries, and other extreme belly snatching procedures etc for attention but I switched it up a bit by saying that it could either be for a man’s attention or a woman’s attention. I threw them off a bit with this angle because they were ready to pounce on me with their already memorized responses about how they only do it to feel good about themselves. They added that men are delusional to think women only do bbl surgeries because of Men’s attention. But when I explained my point, I caught rhem off guard and they slowly began to agree with me that attention was also the goal but they stressed that it is not for men. I them went on to ask whether any of them was attracted to women. They all answered no, which was true because I personally know some of their husbands and partners. Slowly it began to dawn on them where I was headed with the argument. I went further to ask whether there was any woman in their lives worth going under the knife to get their attention. They began to stutter and I chuckled because I knew I had gotten them. I looked into their eyes and I knew I had made a breakthrough in the argument because they gradually began to agree with me that maybe some women BBL surgeries do it because of Men.
