A local resident told me who was actually responsible for the fire at the Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar’s house. According to him, Lanjar’s house was not a family residence but a political gathering place. Protesters had gone there to peacefully register their protest. “It wasn’t the protesters who set the house on fire—it was the people inside the house,” he said. Even an elected local councilor claimed that those inside had guns, while the protesters only carried sticks. “They fired on the protesters,” he said. In the Assisted Dying Bill, GPs feature in multiple clauses (corruption of doctor/patient relationship IMO). But during Friday's debate, we asked how realistic is it to assume there can be continuous and ongoing relationships with doctors? I reminded Lords of the reality of the NHS for many of us, who never see same doctor twice. Is there a danger of GPs nodding through eligibility to assisted death, based on little knowledge of patient's medical history/state of mind/family circumstances?

It’s a new model that allows police officers to quickly arrest those engaged in public drug use and bring them to a health-focused facility where they can sober up and have a chance to be connected to treatment. I ran for mayor because I couldn’t explain to my kids why they were seeing people using drugs at a bus stop on a Monday morning—and as a parent and as mayor, I can’t accept that. With the RESET Center, we are making it clear: if you use drugs on our streets, there will be consequences, but there will also be a real path to recovery.

Student sounds alarm, says professor conducted 'ICE drill' during class A student at the University of Minnesota tells Alpha News she had to take part in what her professor called an "'ICE drill" during class. The student said it was meant to teach students how to respond if ICE ever came to the class—and how white students needed to use their bodies to "cover" and "shield" other students who may be likely targets of immigration enforcement. The student, who initially did not want to be anonymous but did so to protect family and friends, said that as a future educator, “I would never ever instruct my own students to put their own safety on the line.” The university told Alpha News it is aware of the situation and conducting a thorough review.

After that when I called and asked what happened, they told me to come to the hospital. When we called again, the (caller) identified himself as Assistant Super and said your daughter has committed suicide. She went to duty on Thursday, we got this call on Friday at 10:53am. When we reached there, we were not allowed to see her, we were allowed to see her at 3 o'clock. Her pants were open, there was only one piece of cloth on her body. Her hand was broken, blood was coming out of her eyes, mouth. Just by looking at her, it seemed that someone had murdered her. I told them it is not suicide, it's a murder. We worked so hard to make our daughter a doctor but she was murdered." On Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's call, she says, "She (Mamata Banerjee) said that the culprit will be arrested as soon as possible, but nothing has happened so far. One person has been arrested. I am sure many more are involved in this incident. I think the entire department is responsible for the incident... The police did not do a good job at all. I feel that the Chief Minister is trying to stop the protest, today she imposed Section 144 here so that people cannot protest." On the CP, she says, "They did not cooperate with us at all, they only tried to hush up the case as soon as possible. #WATCH | Chandigarh | Jaswinder Kaur Bath, wife of Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath, who was allegedly assaulted by Punjab Police personnel in Patiala, says, "We went to meet DGP Gaurav Yadav, but he was busy. We waited for one and a half hours, but then he left without meeting us. He is an army officer's son, but he still did so... I am raising my voice just because my son said that he would not stay in this country as it is not worth staying. I had to prove to him that justice would be given... Then, we went to meet the governor, and he had tears in his eyes when I spoke to him and when I showed him the pictures and the brutality. He called the DGP and told him that FIR is my right with all the names and to please do what is needed. The governor then told us that if the FIR is not registered, we should get back to him. I want to thank the governor for standing up with us. I came to know through the media that SSP Nanak Singh had said that a magisterial inquiry had been set up, but the FIR could not be changed... Today, when everyone was standing up with me, all the politicians started calling me, but I didn't pick up a single call as this was not a political fight. They cannot say that we were under the influence of alcohol as it is there in the (medical) report of a government hospital... A police inspector told me that we cannot add the names of some police personnel in the FIR as they have been awarded as encounter specialists by the DIG and are about to be promoted. They said that police will do the needful but cannot name them in FIR ..." (21/03)

You may be correct in 5 of the 6 subjects but all it takes is one exam to fail you. One cannot be correct every time! Do these teachers have the right to decide the fate of the student with such mercenary tactics? They may be doing a good job of teaching but do we allow them to mislead, misinform and take a risk on students results? This is not just about awareness.
