The overwhelming majority of Dominicans cannot identify as “black”, they are mostly Mixed with mostly Spanish European ancestry on average. In fact reparations wouldn’t make sense when historically, during the colonial period of Spanish Santo Domingo, only 10% of the population was enslaved by 5% of Dominicans who were slave owners. The remaining 85% of the population consisted mainly of Criollos (whites), Spanish-mixed people, and some free black individuals. Basically you would be paying reparations to former slave owners, in this case Dominicans. Dominicans 🇩🇴👇
