I mean, I could never stop somebody from doing anything in golf. I think you see, especially since COVID, there's been a tremendous growth in the amount of people that are playing golf. “I think it's the greatest game in the world. You learn a lot about life. I met some of my best friends in the whole world playing golf. So for people getting involved in the sport I think is tremendous. “Like I said, getting to spend four hours with somebody outside hanging out playing a game is something that's pretty rare in the busyness I think that we live in today. So getting out taking some time with your buddies and going to play golf is one of the most fun things you can do. Scottie Scheffler explains why playing too many events in a row can mentally drain players and referred to Tiger Woods always playing a limited schedule: “I think when you look at this sport it's unique in a sense of like the amount of time we spend in front of people throughout a week. Like for me to play four days of tournament golf, from the moment I step out on to the driving range if we're playing at a four hour pace that's over five hours, five and a half hours if you include this part of my day, where we're in front of people. And doing that four days in a row in a mental sport I think can take a toll on you. “I think that's why you see a guy like Tiger can only play so many events because I think mentally the challenge of just being in front of people for that long and being on and what it takes in toward to compete week in week out takes a lot out of you mentally. So for me playing more than three weeks in a row is extraordinarily difficult. I can't handle much more than that. “When you look at the season now I think it, for family time it's great to have an off-season as well, just for us for me to be able to be at home with my family is important. As far as the cadence goes, yeah, I definitely have a cadence that I prefer when it comes to scheduling and there are definitely risks cramming a bunch of tournaments into little windows just because it's hard to play that many tournaments in a row. It's hard to be on for that many times. It's hard to get yelled at that many times in a row throughout a round of golf. It just is. Ludvig Aberg gives a refreshingly honest assessment of his round today: “Yeah, obviously really disappointed. I felt like I was striking it okay early on. Got away with a few things, especially No. 4, kind of left miss. “But overall pleased with the week. Obviously today the back nine was not good, but that's the way it goes sometimes.” “It got away from me quick there (on 11 and 12). Yeah, it was just poor swings. I felt like I've had that sort of 7-wood right miss a few times this week, on No. 4 especially twice, and it came up on 11 as well. “Then tried to press a little bit on 12, hitting driver, where sometimes you can play 3-wood a little short of that bunker. “Yeah, obviously really disappointed. I would have loved to be standing where Cameron is standing right now. Max Homa says he doesn’t agree with the ruling on Bryson DeChambeau yesterday and says he knows Bryson would “never cheat the game of golf”: “I'm not really, I guess, wanting to be able to decide on fair, because they're the rules officials. I only saw one angle, and in my opinion I didn't agree with the ruling. I know there's another angle that -- side on, it's always hard to tell if it improves anything. “All I know is I've known Bryson for a very long time, and he's an interesting human at times, but I know he would never cheat the game of golf. I don't really love how it happened. It's not that the R&A said that he did it intentionally, but that rule as a professional golfer feels like it's written inherently to protect against people trying to improve their lie. So I just hope that people don't have that -- that doesn't create a narrative because I don't believe that of him. “But again, I'm not going to sit here -- it's really hard to tell anything. So yeah, that one is not up for me to judge. But it's a shame how that ruling feels because it seems like -- we were talking about it this morning. NCAA Champion Michael La Sasso is now the youngest player on LIV Golf after signing for Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers GC during the off season. He explained his decision to join the league ahead of the season opener in Riyadh: “One of the things that went into my decision, when I was 10 years old starting to play golf, like, the goal for me was to play professional golf. Having people that have been very well-known in the golf space and are so experienced, and to be able to be a part of a team that's with Phil, somebody that's had so much experience, I feel like he'll be able to answer any question that I throw at him, to have the ability to be able to ask somebody that on a daily basis, that played a very big part in it for me because not every 21-year-old has the opportunity to be able to ask questions to those people. So that was a big factor for me. “I think so far, I'm so grateful that I made the decision, and I am very happy to be here.” Michael also says that Caleb Surratt, who joined Jon Rahm’s LIV Golf team for the 2024 season, had an impact on his decision too: “So, I've had a very good relationship with Caleb Surratt. Not many people know this, but he was committed to NC State at the same time I was. He's from North Carolina, I'm from North Carolina. Growing up, I played a lot of golf with him, and we were very close. “I remember when he first came here, he stayed at my house because he was getting a swing lesson from -- we go to the same instructor. "But not only are we fast, we're switchable, we talk, we communicate, everybody can guard their yard. And that's one through five. We've had situations where Davion is guarding a big, and he's like, I'm good. Whatever that means. But you see the type of competitive nature that we have on the defensive end. "And like I said, when he was talking about pickup, like that's where it got most competitive. Like, you know, that's when you hear all the shit talking, that's when you hear all the competitive energy start to go up. It's because of the defensive end. And from that standpoint, I feel like we're going to be really good."
