Scottie Scheffler has the chance to win the career grand slam at the US Open this week. Ahead of the championship he was asked what it would mean for the sport if he were to do it: “That's a good question. I think it would definitely bring more eyeballs to the sport, which is always a good thing. I think golf is a great game. I think it's something that everybody should have a chance to be introduced to. I think you learn a lot about yourself. I think you learn a lot of life lessons through the game of golf. “Some of my best friends in the whole world I know just from playing golf and playing golf with them and growing up with those types of guys. Since Covid, golf has become increasingly more mainstream. Scottie Scheffler was asked ahead of the Travelers Championship how he feels about the impact it’s had on the game: “Yeah, I think it's great for golf to become more mainstream. I think you see, especially since COVID, there's been a tremendous growth in the amount of people that are playing golf. “I think it's the greatest game in the world. You learn a lot about life. I met some of my best friends in the whole world playing golf. So for people getting involved in the sport I think is tremendous. “Like I said, getting to spend four hours with somebody outside hanging out playing a game is something that's pretty rare in the busyness I think that we live in today. So getting out taking some time with your buddies and going to play golf is one of the most fun things you can do. Especially when you start playing, you learn a lot about life and how to handle things and it's a challenging game as well, so overall I think it's just a great sport for anybody to get involved in.” PGA TOUR TravelersChamp

Scottie Scheffler explains why playing too many events in a row can mentally drain players and referred to Tiger Woods always playing a limited schedule: “I think when you look at this sport it's unique in a sense of like the amount of time we spend in front of people throughout a week. Like for me to play four days of tournament golf, from the moment I step out on to the driving range if we're playing at a four hour pace that's over five hours, five and a half hours if you include this part of my day, where we're in front of people. And doing that four days in a row in a mental sport I think can take a toll on you. “I think that's why you see a guy like Tiger can only play so many events because I think mentally the challenge of just being in front of people for that long and being on and what it takes in toward to compete week in week out takes a lot out of you mentally. So for me playing more than three weeks in a row is extraordinarily difficult. I can't handle much more than that. “When you look at the season now I think it, for family time it's great to have an off-season as well, just for us for me to be able to be at home with my family is important. As far as the cadence goes, yeah, I definitely have a cadence that I prefer when it comes to scheduling and there are definitely risks cramming a bunch of tournaments into little windows just because it's hard to play that many tournaments in a row. Got away with a few things, especially No. 4, kind of left miss. “But overall pleased with the week. Obviously today the back nine was not good, but that's the way it goes sometimes.” “It got away from me quick there (on 11 and 12). Yeah, it was just poor swings. I felt like I've had that sort of 7-wood right miss a few times this week, on No. 4 especially twice, and it came up on 11 as well. “Then tried to press a little bit on 12, hitting driver, where sometimes you can play 3-wood a little short of that bunker. “Yeah, obviously really disappointed. I would have loved to be standing where Cameron is standing right now. NCAA Champion Michael La Sasso is now the youngest player on LIV Golf after signing for Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers GC during the off season. He explained his decision to join the league ahead of the season opener in Riyadh: “One of the things that went into my decision, when I was 10 years old starting to play golf, like, the goal for me was to play professional golf. Having people that have been very well-known in the golf space and are so experienced, and to be able to be a part of a team that's with Phil, somebody that's had so much experience, I feel like he'll be able to answer any question that I throw at him, to have the ability to be able to ask somebody that on a daily basis, that played a very big part in it for me because not every 21-year-old has the opportunity to be able to ask questions to those people. So that was a big factor for me. “I think so far, I'm so grateful that I made the decision, and I am very happy to be here.” Michael also says that Caleb Surratt, who joined Jon Rahm’s LIV Golf team for the 2024 season, had an impact on his decision too: “So, I've had a very good relationship with Caleb Surratt. Not many people know this, but he was committed to NC State at the same time I was. He's from North Carolina, I'm from North Carolina. Growing up, I played a lot of golf with him, and we were very close. “I remember when he first came here, he stayed at my house because he was getting a swing lesson from -- we go to the same instructor. Everything that he had to say, it made me excited. From a very early start, hearing about LIV and every perk that it had and hearing him talk so highly about it, the fact that I actually had an opportunity to come out here and play, and I asked him a bunch of questions and kind of from the start, everything that he had to say and people that I talked to, everything was so, so good.” He went on to say about the prospect of playing team golf: “I think that makes the transition a little bit easier. I feel like my golf has kind of taken off when I've been in a team environment. For me, having a team around me was very appealing. “I've played good golf as a team. I like the camaraderie, kind of the friendly banter that goes back and forth between the guys. For me to have the opportunity to come play on a team environment for a professional career, I think that's the coolest thing ever.” This is Michael’s rookie season as a pro after signing for HyFlyers GC straight out of college. Normally, it’s a difficult transition for young players to make, but Michael isn’t short of confidence and has some lofty goals: “I've talked with a bunch of people on the team. I know Phil is very big on having a team win and an individual win. Now being the youngest player in the league, I'd kind of like to come in and make a good noise, and I would like to win a couple times. I would like to see the team win for sure, as a team event. This is something where you can have a great appreciation for and like a great amount of thankfulness for being able to do this. Like I said, it's literally one of the most fun things I can do in my entire life. I love being able to come out here and compete, but at the end of the day, it's not what satisfies me."

I feel it every day. My dad is tattooed on me. That's what we've gone through. I understand it on a level that a lot of people don't get it. And I think they see that in me. They know that why I'm here. because you get to the point where you get fed up enough where you're like, you know what? It's time to stand up. It's time to fight. I did it when I was in the military and now it's time to fight for Iowans because I love this country, I love this state and I love these people and I'm going to do whatever I can to help them.”

Bryson DeChambeau hosted a clinic today at the International Series India for hundreds of Indian golf fans of all ages. He said about his motivation to travel to the country and play at DLF Golf and Country Club this week: “The ability for golf as really a young sport, but changing from an older sport into a young sport to showcase what golf can mean for the future generations of India. That's always inspired me. My mission in the game of golf is to first off, inspire, entertain, and a subtle part of it is educate as well. “Educate, entertain, inspire is my main three principles of why I play the game of golf. “I think this is an amazing opportunity for all of golf to come together and see what India can truly produce for the world. And it's a growing economy, it's a growing population that needs golf. There's a lot more to come, so that's why I'm here.” There is a real buzz around the venue, that only hosting a reigning major champion of Bryson DeChambeau’s stature can achieve. Young people all across the globe getting the opportunity to see him play up close and personal is an experience they will never forget. You looked for content and ways to grow in the community and I genuinely wanted to help. You could've asked ANYONE but chose to ask me. I sat there and gave you advice because I was real enough to. I live in your mind rent free. Instead of worrying about another grown ass person... worry about yourself. I try to tell people this is what blocks people's blessings. Being negative & lying. It was never about a park game and you know that? Why would I care about a virtual game when you pulled up on me and lost the 1st time ANYWAYS. Get it together fr. God don't like ugly 💯

I Gave a Stranger A Golf Lesson 🏌️‍♂️ I was travelling in Denver a couple of weeks ago and decided to go for a morning run As I ran past this guy in the street, he called back and said “No way! Is that you Andy from Me and My Golf”. Of course, I stopped and chatted for a while. This is one of our favourite things about what we do! I asked him to send me some swings through and I would give him some help. It was clear to me that Nick wasn’t really shifting his weight to his lead leg in the downswing. This always leads to lack of compression with irons and often some duff shots ⛳️ If you struggle with this, make sure you get to that impact line as early as possible. Also, if you ever see us in the street or at a golf event, please say hi! You never know, we might even do the same for you. #golflesson #golf

Anthony Kim spoke about his journey after a third round 68 to be solo 3rd at LIV Golf Adelaide: “It's been a hell of a week. Obviously not having a visa to get into this country was the start. I've worked hard, and I knew this day would come at some point. Obviously Bryson is at 20-something under or whatever he is, and he's got a huge lead, but I'm at least putting myself where I feel like I belong, and the practice is paying off.” He then spoke about whether he believed he’d be in this position when he joined the league 2 years ago: “It was always the goal to be in the final group, giving yourself a chance to win a golf tournament, or else I wouldn't have been practicing and playing on this league. But if you'd have asked me three years ago, I would have told you you were on drugs.” Then he was asked about breaking through: “I don't care if it's tough, if it's easy. I just want to break through and give myself a chance to win the golf tournament. Obviously six shots back, seven shots back going into tomorrow is going to be tough. But I know if I just keep working that I'll have enough chances. “I like playing tough golf courses because I'm always looking to battle uphill. I know that a large percentage of the players at majors already feel like they can't win the golf tournament. 🗨️| “Absolutely beautiful place. I'd spent a bit of time there on tour, but not enough time, you know, not working. Um, and I just wanted to surround myself with the kind of atmosphere and feelings that I wanted from the records. And, you know, the more you surround yourself by that, it, that those feelings are infectious completely. Um, there was a lovely kind of tempo to where we were in Costa Rica, place called Santa Teresa. It's like really kind of slow and like lovely like way of living. So the kind of tranquility that you'd hope for when making a record, it's often the other way and pressure, pressure, pressure. It was really nice to kind of, lay back on that. And in terms of the honesty on the record, I almost meant that in a slightly less literal sense. I've always been a quite a motive and honest songwriter, but I think this is the first time that I've been willing to embrace things that I was maybe a little bit scared of at first. It was really important to me post One Direction to kind of show who I was as an artist. So I resisted anything that was too close to centre. All the while forgetting that's what created me, you know, and that's the reason I'm sat in this chair. So I think it's, this record comes from a braver and more Honest standpoint. Yeah, I just, I deserve melodic songs like, Lemonade, you know, and like Palaces where in the past I might have kind of ignored melodies like that. Loved this from Justin Rose on the beauty of Augusta National — "You just arrive here and kind of take a deep breath. It's familiar faces, the same guys in the locker room. You get to know some of the members. It's begins to feel comfortable. It's always special. It never gets complacent. That's for me the magic that I'm comfortable here, but never complacent here. I feel like there's always something to learn, something to push for. You've always got to respect the golf course…You enjoy the experience here Monday to Wednesday, and then I don't think you enjoy another golf shot for the rest of the week, because everything is kind of -- there's high risk and high reward on every shot you hit here."

Do you ever get imposter syndrome? Yunjin : Guys, imposter syndrome is a real thing and it's really hard But, um, I think if you have imposter syndrome it's not... well, nothing in life nothing in this world is 100% good, 100% bad but, I think with imposter syndrome there's more good than there is bad That's kind of how I try to like stabilize myself whenever I feel like I'm having imposter syndrome and that's wrong of me I try to remind myself that "Oh it's better than having like a huge ego Because if you are doubting yourself, it's good to a point It gets to a point, you know? So I try not to get like... because I feel like a lot of problems often stem from me feeling like some way and then like demonizing that feeling when when it's not something that you should like demonize Yeah, so imposter syndrome, I get it But I also try to tell myself it's just a way of humbling myself, I guess It can be crippling though, sometimes And the way out of it is by keeping people that I respect and admire around me So that when they tell me that they trust me then I can trust them Because when I don't trust myself, I trust those people And thankfully, I have four of those people in my life, in my team And' then I have a bunch of staff who I feel the same way about

Rory McIlroy has never minced his words when it comes to his views on LIV Golf. He was asked about it again yesterday, and in typical Rory fashion, after saying he was “too judgemental” with players that went, he then said “if you want to be the most competitive golfer you can be, this (PGA Tour) is the place to be. And if you don't want to play here, I think that says something about you.” Speaking after a 5 under par 67 to climb inside the top 10 of the Truist Championship, Rory spoke about his thoughts on the news that the Saudi Arabian PIF was pulling funding to the league: “Yeah, look, I think everyone sort of knows my views on LIV and where it stands in the game of golf. I don't think I need to rehash any of that. It's never been for me and, look, it doesn't mean that LIV is going to go away. They're going to go and try and find alternative investment, whatever that may look like. But when one of the wealthiest sovereign wealth funds in the world thinks that you're too expensive for them, that sort of says something (laughing).” He then was asked what a possible route back for players to the PGA Tour would look like: “It's a question if they do want to come back. Obviously we have seen the quotes over the last few days. And, you know, it seems like some of the guys, if -- again, it all depends on what happens to LIV. But if it is a scenario where they have the option to come back and play on the traditional tours, you know, I think Brian Rolapp has said anything that makes this Tour stronger, anything that makes the DP World Tour stronger, I think everyone should be open to that. That's just good business practice. “So, but again I think there's going to be a lot of sort of bridges to cross to get there, just because, you know, obviously the guys over there are under contract and if they are able to keep it going and get a schedule together next year, it seems like those guys are still going to play the majority of their golf on LIV, in whatever form it takes.” That was followed up with a question about whether he was surprised that LIV Golf players have been outspoken about not wanting to return to the PGA Tour: “Yeah, which is totally fine. Like, again, I think I've said at the start, I was probably too judgmental with the guys that went because I was seeing it from my point of view and maybe not seeing it from other points of view. But again, I'm not going to judge anyone for not wanting to play on the PGA Tour. “I don't know, you know, does that mean that they go play DP World Tour maybe; if that's a pathway, that would make the DP World Tour stronger, and I would be delighted with that, because that's my home Tour, at the end of the day. “But this is, if you want to be the most competitive golfer you can be, this (PGA Tour) is the place to be. Appreciative to Dallas, and the fan base, and my teammates have accepted me and welcomed me with open arms, given the situation. It's part of basketball. You can't control what goes on. It's our job to play basketball, and I just want to come in and showcase that. The injury happened, and I tried to do everything I can to get back on the floor to finish the season and try to carry us into the playoffs. "I'm just appreciative. Obviously, it's a lot of emotions that I know are not directed towards me. The city loved the guy. You get rid of a guy, new guy coming in, but they want to embrace you, and thankful for you—still stings. "I'm just thankful and appreciative of the city of Dallas and their fans for welcoming me, and my teammates, coming into a situation — Max [Christie] and I — coming into a situation that, a lot of it was just in the unknown.
